Last Thursday, December 17, 2009, The White House released Obama's Executive Order ?Amending Executive Order 12425.? It grants INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) a new level of full diplomatic immunity afforded to foreign embassies and select other ?International Organizations? as set forth in the United States International Organizations Immunities Act of 1945.

By removing language from President Reagan?s 1983 Executive Order 12425, this international law enforcement body now operates - now operates ? on American soil beyond the reach of our own top law enforcement arm, the FBI, and is immune from Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests. In addition, it is immune from any lawsuits by individual Americans.

More:

Interpol?s property and assets are no longer subject to search and confiscation, and its archives are now considered inviolable. This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be completely unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.

Interpol will have more authority than U.S. agencies such as the FBI and CIA because it is not restrained by, answerable to, or required to obey U.S. law. And there is no redress for persons who believe they have been abused by Interpol.

Interpol works closely with international tribunals (such as the International Criminal Court ? which the United States has refused to join because of its sovereignty-surrendering provisions, though top Obama officials want us in it). It also works closely with foreign courts and law-enforcement authorities (such as those in Europe that are investigating former Bush administration officials for purported war crimes ? i.e., for actions taken in America?s defense).

Why would we elevate an international police force above American law? Why would we immunize an international police force from the limitations that constrain the FBI and other American law-enforcement agencies? Why is it suddenly necessary to have, within the Justice Department, a repository for stashing government files which, therefore, will be beyond the ability of Congress, American law-enforcement, the media, and the American people to scrutinize?

Rick Moran at the American Thinker speculates that it might have something to do with putting the Bush administration on trial for so-called ?war crimes?, but also reminds us not to hit the panic button?yet

I would speculate that McCarthy has hit upon the reason; the president may solve the problem of ?torture trials? by turning the whole thing over to the International Criminal Court. There are several hands in the Obama foreign policy shop who would support this move, while he would definitely get back in the good graces of his far left base.

But that?s just speculation. Perhaps it?s terrorism related. Maybe he?s just trying to please his European friends. Perhaps its simply an extension of his oft-stated belief that America should surrender much of its sovereignty and move toward being merely a part of a worldwide government.

So why would you advocate more and more of them taking over every aspect of your life? Obama has thus far pissed on the gay rights me promised me. He sometimes cannot find his spine when he really needs it. He is on board with the tons of deficient spending that Congress is doing and that greatly worries me.

Last month I probably would have given him a personal approval rating of 40%. I am seeing small signs of a economic turnaround and a healthcare bill moving along that will require insurance companies to cover me if I am willing to pay them (which I don't have now). I currently give him a 55% approval rating -- subject to change.

Having said that, this INTERPOL issue is not on my radar and does not concern me or anyone I know.

Remember, just YESTERDAY someone tried to blow up a plane over Detroit. We did not win the war on terror. There is no winning the war on terror. It's countries (we're not the only one's they hate) against individuals that hate them. We're not fighting another army. We're fighting individuals willing to blow themselves up to deny us our way of life.

Let's say you say something about some foreign official believing that you have the "right" to say what you wish here in America. Well in that country you don't have said rights. In fact they will shoot you dead for saying it. Well said foreign official calls up "World Police" and says "go get that guy and bring him to me.." Living outside of DC and having a social circle that includes more than a handful of Congressional staffers, some Obama admin slaves and even a Congressman, you give our government WAY TOO much credit with your conspiracy theories.

You'll have to do your own search. You'll find it time and time again. I really don't care to keep explaining it to you. In summary this has nothing to do with health and everything to do with control of you and your money. They will set all sorts of regulations, if you don't pay for it you will go to jail, the pharma and insurance companies will be the only ones who will benefit. Have you even read the bill? Btw... I agree with you in the sense that the current Senate bill is a slick way to place additional penalties on the people who don't file taxes.

Trust me, if you're just living your life as an ordinary American citizen, this means absolutely nothing to you. Now if you're a terrorist, international or domestic, a few more people are going to be after you. The same people afraid of Obama's move were cheering the Patriot Act. If Bush had made this decision it would be the left complaining. Obama made it and the right is complaining. Other countries have been a part of INTERPOL for years without any problems. America has just gotten on board. The Obama administration believes in working with other countries and has dropped the "you're either with us or against us" crap that Bush piled on to make the rest of the world hate us. I like to think that Obama is building International consensus. We will still have the same number of enemies, but maybe we'll gain some allies. Trust me, with as much as we fucked up our own economy, causing a ripple effect in others, we REALLY need friends right now. We are not in a position to burn bridges.
