any bullet, as soon as it leaves the barrel, gravity is pulling it down (32' per sec squared)
in theory, if i shot this round perfectly horizontal and also dropped another bullet just like it next to me at the same time, they would both hit the ground at the same time. The forward speed does not affect the downward speed (gravity)

so the faster the bullet the more accurate you can shoot and the less drop you have to compensate for. plus a side affect of this is that it also knocks the hell out of what your shooting.

a 7mm mag can kill anything in North America.

Yea you can trap and do some stupid crap and cheat the system but if you are hunting legit, it could take you more than 20 years to see your FIRST buck in the woods while you have a rifle- not during the summer when they can practically eat out of your hand.

I used to be the same way about animal hunting and killing. Until this year when i went to see my sister out in the forest (she has a farm in the west coast of BC). And i saw first hand what it requires to live and actually survive from nature directly.

As long as the animal is not wasted, then i see it ok to hunt. I even find it a bit hypocritical of people who might say something but at the same time eat meat from a supermarket - have you ever seen any documentary on the treatment of animals at killing mills? at least the Deer was in his natural habitat and went quickly and painless.

I've never hunted but if one is going to enjoy the hunt and eat the meat and not cause the game to go extinct, go for it. People look at the blood and the carcass of the deer and "feel" for it. This could only happen in modern Western societies where what is on your breakfast table and how it got there is so far removed from your daily experience that you think it's fundamentally different to shooting a deer for food. That piece of bacon you just ate was part of a living breathing pig, ditto for the chicken, beef, and fish that you eat without thinking twice. They suffered bloody deaths too.

I don't know much about hunting or hunting deer. The idea that it's done to control deer population has always sounded to me like a made-up reason to justify something that needs no justification other than it's a sport with a tasty reward.

When I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, I knew a scout sniper that hunted with his KBar. He'd get all ghillied up, surround himself in salt licks and apple cores after baiting the area for a while and just hunker down and wait. He said that it was the best sniper training ever.

Nobody believed him until we saw his first kill with nothing but a stab wound through the throat, seperate from where he cut it's throat and drained it. There was another big gash in the abdomen where he stabbed it a second time as it was turning around to run. He said he had to chase it for a while, but it finally dropped. After that a few other guys from his unit got into it and I'd guess they still do it. That's something I'd love to see a tape of.

I've got no beef shooting deer vs. bows or even knives. We created the technology, we get to use it to be lazy killers.

Most hunters don't act like that and the few that might don't do it long because it is frowned upon amongst real hunter outdoors man.

Most hunters don't act like that and the few that might don't do it long because it is frowned upon amongst real hunter outdoors man. Some people golf, some bowl, I hunt and fish for enjoyment and family time. A hunter takes a picture of his kill just like a fisherman takes a pic of his catch. I eat what I hunt and fish for. I enjoy it. I take pictures of memorable moments. So sue me. I'm an animal lover as well as a conservationist. Just because I hunt and fish and shoot guns don't stereotype me as a person with no regard for nature or life. I follow the law. The law says I can kill 12 deer this year. Biologists that study deer for a living agree with this. There are over 45 deer per square mile here.
