This is certainly partly true. The Bible has been reinvented somewhat as an all peaceful religion, an drifted away from a lot of its own actual teachings. The only difference with the Quran is it is meant to be taken as the literal word of God, and as such any attempts to reform it are really futile among its believers.

I don't know enough about either to comment, but I think it's entirely possible for one to be much more violent than the other. I don't think it's just a matter of how many violent passages that elude to violence but the substance of it. For example, one book could preach about human sacrifices for various reasons while another could preach about directing violent acts towards specific individuals or groups (eg. non-believers). Both can be considered violent but would likely have very different implications in the real world when practiced.

You would also have to consider the non-violent passages and the underlying philosophies of each book to put the violent passages into context, and how the majority of their believers interprets them (literally vs metaphorically).

As a non-religious person, I think neither book should be taken seriously. But I can't ignore that they are by many.

The mid east has never been stable, read your history books. Those who were not of the Quran faith even very early on were killed... look at the history of the Knight Templar and what was going on at their time. I think the only good thing that came out of the Christan movement was that I helped to counter balance much of the fanaticism of the mid east.

Also for most of our history except maybe for the last couple centuries the majority of the world populace was illiterate.

Just because the first known "written text" was Cuneiform, it doesn't mean that's the first written or drawn information is only 3-4k years old. Our brains could process the information well before 3-4k years ago. 10k years ago, we would have lived where the ocean is now as the majority of the planet was covered in ice, we aren't exactly sure if did read and write, but it's clear our brains could do it, and we knew how to survive.

Last time I checked we couldn't align ourselves with the magnetic polls of earth, without some computer crap to tell us how... yet 4k years ago we could, so what is logical thinking, really?

Logical thinking, has to do with care, love, fear, building shelter, dealing with death correctly, ect. We aren't all the same either. We are very logical, your understanding of it is todays standard, not real world life where a person has to survive.

I didn't bring God into this, I'm sure something creates and takes life, call it god if you wish. I don't think the stories are real, at any level. They are written by humans, modified over time by humans, taken from other stories written/passed down by humans, and used to control people by using fear and hate for others - all the while preaching god loves you only to its followers of that belief.

And today, if you say you speak to god, start writing books, getting followers. you get a drug test and tossed into a nut house or you run a cult and the fbi will burn your house down.
