A friend just sent me this joke... Pretty good one. Read!

A self-important college freshman attending a recent football game took it upon
himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was
impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.

'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one', the
student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. 'The young people
of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the
moon. Our space probes have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, ships and
electric and hydrogen cars, cell phones, computers with light-speed
processing...and more.'

After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows:

'You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young........so we
invented them. Now, you arrogant little shit, what are you doing for the next
generation?'

The applause was amazing.......

I just don't find it funny, sorry. I live around 1000's of old people, and they answer like this all the time. It's not to be funny, they answer like this because they don't understand the question/statement.

What the kid said wasn't wrong, so the old man followed up with another true statement. Making a right from the right, it's what old people do when they get confused.

I play Golf, and you know the old people love golf, and I'm telling ya now. They like views, politics and religion - and when you say or do something they don't agree with or understand - it's like they get instant altimeters and the mind shuts down.

Old people rant over...

I was not digging on what you were saying at first, but you're right.

My in-laws will not listen to the opinion of anyone under 40. They just tune out and look right through you, even if you're absolutely right. I'm not talking about thinking you may be right --- I mean you know you're right like the sky is blue.

They call you opinionated and move on to the next topic, usually something they know better.

Been there and done that. It has really struck me as really weird and then I begin to question stuff i really do know as the other person seems like they should be informed.
