Not that stats can be trusted but this seemed a bit surprising if it is indeed true.

I suppose though, as far as porn goes, Mac is a lot more popular than the stats of PC sales. A huge percentage of computers are bought for businesses and they are almost all PC. Very little porn traffic comes from work computers. It would be interesting to know the % of computers between home/personal and work.

The stats can be trusted, but note that this is only retail. So it excludes competition like Dell and such.

Basically, the stats say Apple dominates the market when it comes to high-end store-bought computers. That's not really a shocker.

Not only the whole $300 computer being sold for $1k idea but how about this one... Most of us PC users who want computers that would cost above $1k simply build them ourselves!

Mac users tend to not be so "technical" while they're high in image and graphic related skills. Most of these same people also have the disposable income to not bother building and tuning their computers. that said... I don't see a point in putting much over $600 into hardware.

$200 for E8400 or Q6600
$200 just bought me 2*640Gb WD drives which will be RAID
$50 Power supply
$100 just bought me 4Gb RAM
$50 video card (lower end Radeon HD card since I don't play games)
$90 Gigabyte board
lets alot $20 for a DVD drive and $30 for a case

like $740 and I have a badass computer. Stack on a $300 monitor and I have a computer thats GREAT at all things but gaming. Up that $50 video card to $150 or more and you can play plenty of games. Not to mention plenty of nice monitors around $200.

Unless you're crazy I don't even see how its possible to spend much over $1k on a COMPLETE system. Obviously going dual monitor or massive monitors you can spend $600 or more on monitors alone...

I'd say that 60% of the people I talk to about computers WANT a mac, they're just disillusioned about the costs, once you let them know they can get one for like $700 they're all over it.

I think its because of all the people buying those HUGE monitors, by time you get a 24" or bigger monitor with you're mac you're most of the way to $1k... they have some seriously badass monitors but so are those dell ultrasharps.

People who buy macs care more about a quality display. equip them the same and the PC user will be happy with the $200 22" monitor. The mac guy most likely is willing to spend $600 on the MONITOR.

How much is your time worth?

Apple = 0 down time this year, 0 maintenance
PC = many many hours wasted loading programs to keep it working properly and reinstalling OS's, fucking with drivers, and countless other shit. And I am plenty experienced in both PC and mac.

sure my PC cost $1k less than my mac, but if I tack on what an hour of my time is worth to the cost of the PC, I could have bought a new car with the money I could have made in those hours over the last few years of it's life.

Of course I think you need both to get all the things you need done done.

Macs suck for graphics. Photography work especially. I've used both and I use Mac all the time except to play games in Windows so if I say Mac sucks for graphics I think I know what I'm talking about.

That being said hackers and developers are moving to the Mac platform in droves.

I suppose though, as far as porn goes, Mac is a lot more popular than the stats of PC sales. A huge percentage of computers are bought for businesses and they are almost all PC. Very little porn traffic comes from work computers. Most of us PC users who want computers that would cost above $1k simply build them ourselves! Mac users tend to not be so "technical" while they're high in image and graphic related skills. Most of these same people also have the disposable income to not bother building and tuning their computers. that said... I don't see a point in putting much over $600 into hardware. $200 for E8400 or Q6600 $200 just bought me 2*640Gb WD drives which will be RAID $50 Power supply $100 just bought me 4Gb RAM $50 video card (lower end Radeon HD card since I don't play games) $90 Gigabyte board lets alot $20 for a DVD drive and $30 for a case like $740 and I have a badass computer. Stack on a $300 monitor and I have a computer thats GREAT at all things but gaming. Up that $50 video card to $150 or more and you can play plenty of games. Not to mention plenty of nice monitors around $200. Unless you're crazy I don't even see how its possible to spend much over $1k on a COMPLETE system. I'd say that 60% of the people I talk to about computers WANT a mac, they're just disillusioned about the costs, once you let them know they can get one for like $700 they're all over it. Anyone ever notice any thread about Apple, stinkyfinger is in here pissing and moaning like crazy, calling people stupid and names and shit? And people say that apple fan boys cause trouble

People who buy macs care more about a quality display. equip them the same and the PC user will be happy with the $200 22" monitor. Eventually you are gonna be able to run OS X on any computer, just watch. Funny thing is I just loaded XP on my mac and it crashes all the time. OSX has never crashed any of my computers.

Apple = 0 down time this year, 0 maintenance PC = many many hours wasted loading programs to keep it working properly and reinstalling OS's, fucking with drivers, and countless other shit. And I am plenty experienced in both PC and mac. sure my PC cost $1k less than my mac, but if I tack on what an hour of my time is worth to the cost of the PC, I could have bought a new car with the money I could have made in those hours over the last few years of it's life. Of course I think you need both to get all the things you need done done. I HOPE YOU PC PEOPLE STAY TO PC'S, cause yes, the bigger market share mac's get the sooner we'll get your hackers writing viruses.
