FTV receive c&d from Mercedes

Haven't seen it mentioned here yet, FTV received a C&D from Mercedes so they have to pull every image with the S..L#&&(*R in it (hey, wouldn't want the M/erce&des lawyers to find this thread )

Where will it stop? C&D from Coke? C&D from your TV manufacturer? C&D from the company that made your kitchen sink?

Seriously, what kind of "damage" can be done to Mercedes by having pornstars pose with their cars?

"Damn, that chick is hot... and for some reason, now I want to buy a Mercedes." -- lol..

I wonder how many pornstars and industry people own Mercedes compared to other brands.

People who own & buy stock in the company probably don't like the idea of it.

If that's the case then we should all be shooting in a bare studio, since every manufacturer with a unique product could sue us.

Make sure the backdrop has no texture, the manufacturer might recognise it.

This is quite common on the DVD video side of adult. People get c/d often. It's why when you watch a video you'll never see any type of logo in it.

Yes. Associating sex and cars is lower than low. When I go to a car show, I've never seen sexy women there at all.

"When you turn on your car, does it do the same for you?"

Pure filth. Shame shame shame.

end orgasm. I mean sarcasm.

every major studio I have worked for took extra special precautions to blank out any labels before the camera was ever turned on

even when I was at a Hustler shoot and they wanted porn magazines on the coffee table, they made sure the names of the porn magazines could not be seen

If I recall right the only thing that would have to be removed is the Mercedes Logo, not the car, however even that may be in question really.

FTV could get an attorney and fight it.
Besides that would be excellent publicity.

i have always thought this was the stupidest fucking law ever - you buy a product it's yours to do what you want with it - but that's not how it works - the clothes manufacturers could do the same thing.

funny thing is that until the movie E.T. all motion pictures and tv shows would have to tape up the logo on any product or make some dumb fake like SuperCola rather than CocaCola - THEN came E.T. and the use of Reece's Pieces - sales of that candy exploded and now manufacturers of everything from candy to Mercedes PAY to get their products into a movie. Product placement.

unfortunately porn still has a stigma.

I would think that Rob's lawyer would have come up with the obscure the Mercedes logo fix if that would do the trick. Maybe because automobiles have body shapes that are instantly recognizable versus something like a soft drink can where if you cover up the Coke logo it could be any one of a hundred different brands.

sorry to hear about this Chris - it sucks.

Because Mercedes doesn't mind their car being associated with what rich people drive. Which is why most celebs get shit for free from the companies, so that they will be seen driving or wearing the products. Many Celebs are even paid to order certain brands of liquor in clubs just so people will over hear what they are ordering and order it also to be like them.

But who would they sue? Paris? Different scenario altogether.

let's use our brains and not be silly..... FTV makes $$$... you think they'd sue some dumb amateur girl site with a pic of her cheap bmw that only has 25 members?

It will be interesting to see how it plays out though... go FTV.

....and if the cars are in his COMPANY name.... ouch.

yep, I have been on shoots where we had to put black tape on neon beer signs to make it say something other than "Budweiser" for example.

The usual Mercedes body style is also copyright. You see it mentioned in some of their commercials.

Welcome to the world of greeking.
It is all about the copyright itself, which typically is the logo and such, rarely if ever can an object itself be copywritten. Does not mean they still can not sue the living fuck out of you and waste your time and cash. Afterall many of these companies have a lawyer or a floor of them already on payroll getting paid if they are working or not so tread lightly.

Bull fucking shit. If anything, Mercedes should be paying them for free advertising!

No one is going to see a Mercedes and say "Hey, I should sign up to Lia19". But I'm willing to bet people are seeing Lia 19 on that car and saying "Wow, that's a good looking car".

Calm down, everyone knows the cars were used to help sell the product. Were the girls posing with used Yogo's? Of course not. And nobody is going to buy a new Benz because a girls tits were on the hood.

Not bitching at you......

If this rule applies to FTV, then it should apply to every major movie studio also - meaning that Mercedes Benz can never have their car displayed in a movie.

Note that Ford has a habit of getting their cars all over movies. I noticed "I Am Legend" was all Ford products, as well the last James Bond movie. All car companies should embrace this, not fight it.

Then how come Pepsi can have a commercial bashing Coca Cola (with a Coca Cola bottle in the scene)?

Another example would be Miller vs Budweiser.

How do these companies get away with showing other logos? I seriously doubt the competition would give permission for these companies to use their logos to bash their own products...

let's use our brains and not be silly..... FTV makes $$$... you think they'd sue some dumb amateur girl site with a pic of her cheap bmw that only has 25 members?

It will be interesting to see how it plays out though... go FTV.

....and if the cars are in his COMPANY name.... ouch.
paparazzi photography is different than commercial photography, thats why you dont need a release form for the britney pussy pics, they are considered editorial/news worthy...
i dont think it matters if the cars are in his name or his company name.
btw, i think Harley Davidson did something similar and to me that was quite shocking..
