Anybody can be better than that bumbling fool Bush, so why not have this country move into the 21st century. The way I'm seeing it we're falling behind big time in education, health care, poverty, energy, you name it ( now the dollar is shrinking). I make great money and still can't get decent health care. As a country, America has nothing to lose at this point, we're already going down unless we can come together for a common cause.
Hell, even webmasters on this board beat each other up for no good reason and it causes this place to not prosper as it really should. But no one likes to share ideas or is afraid of "new" people showing up on the scene with innovative ideas. maybe there are people out there, getting a little fed up and that causes them to rise up. "A change is coming", do not fool yourself, It's already begun. |

I am in Southern Jersey where people always vote Republican. I am actually hearing young 20-35 year olds saying that they would vote for Obama. All my friends have expressed they are voting for Obama. I am seriously considering for voting for Obama. Plus, my opinion influences about 20 other voters in my family. If he wins the Democratic nomination, I will support Obama.

The end of the speech where his voice started building in volume and the crowd spoke along with him was especially powerful.

I personally don't care for any of the candidates, Rep. or Dem.
Not one of them talks about what they will really do as president. Right now we have village idiot running the country, so any of the candidates seem better then that pathetic loser Bush. By the way why doesn?t anyone run on the platform that they will capture or kill Osama? (Not Obama) lol that right there is kind of scary, how close their names are.

GatorBitch is Obama ends up winning are you going to take a stiff black cock in your ass?
i know it has been said a million times but i really do think that this election that people are ready for a change, the way he speaks brings people together, and that is what americans are looking for again, to help feel united across the nation and be proud as ever to say i am an america. |

Obama is a very very good speaker. That said he won't be getting the democrat nomination in Denver. If it gets that far the super delegates will continue to break heavily Clinton. Whether the party forces Clinton to take Obama as the vice on the ticket is the real question and does he take it?

If you have a democrat president and republican congress and senate there is nothing that will be done except bring out the veto pens and hope they don't have enough to override the vetoes. Or you can have a dem president and a small majority of either party and nothing will get done at all like it is now. Until the country elects a president who is anti-establishment and bucks the current system but also elects brand new congressman and senators who fit that mold as well, then nothing in Washington will change.

"On primary day ? Feb. 5 ? 370 of the 441 delegates are allocated proportionally to presidential candidates; 241 of those 370 delegates are allocated based on the vote in each of the state?s 53 Congressional districts. In addition, 129 delegates are allocated to candidates based on the primary vote statewide. On May 18, the remaining 71 delegates are selected from among party leaders and elected representatives." "New York Democrats have a total of 281 delegates, 151 of whom are elected proportionally based on the results of the Feb. 5 primary within each congressional district. In addition, 45 are automatic and chosen from party leaders. At a state Democratic committee meeting in May, the remaining 85 delegates are selected." Based on current polls Clinton should get 221 of the delegates that are awarded on that day, plus MOST of the delegates chosen by "party leaders". even if she only got those additonal delegates proportional to the election results that's a total of 315 delegates just from those 2 states. That's puts her at 600 counting what she has now. even if she got NONE from Illinois( she'll get some ) and just 1/3 of the rest on Super Tuesday( she'll get more ) that's another 400 deleagtes. So now she's at 1000, minimum As long as John Edwards stays in the race he'll take votes and delegates away from Obama. Come convention time he'll have at least 400 delegates of his own. All he has to do is toss them Hillary's way and guess what, she'll have enough to get the nomination. too bad these kiddies have no clue how elections actually work. |

Those of you saying that blacks vote for the black guy just because of his color would do well to research the history of Obama's campaign.
He was not the black favorite until recently.

That sad part about racists in our generation is that they don't believe they are racists. The carryover racism of their parents and grandparents is so ingrained in their soul that they cannot shake it, they can only rationalize it in a more politically correct fashion.
This goes for every race. It's not helping anyone. This thread is a good example of what I'm saying.

Edwards is by far the best candidate for the Democrats to take back control of the white house. Hard to throw the mud at a man who has used his legal background to fight big corporations and defend children plus has a wife battling cancer. However he's not the cool hip choice for "change". Whatever change means.
One of the biggest problems in this country is the growing divide between the haves and the have nots. Every one of Edwards policies from economic to health care to the environment has that in mind. It's amazing to me that he doesnt have more support, especially from the middle class. Obama is a great speaker. But that doesnt make a good president and it helps, but doesnt overcome the fact that he doesnt have huge support among whites. And you WILL need the white vote to win in November. I would take any one of the Democratic candidates (Clinton, Obama, Edwards) over anyone of the bumbling fools on the GOP side. Mainly to allow the Democratic controlled congress a chance to pass laws and do some good. Im just not sure why Democrtas fail to understand that Obama will have a difficult time winning in November. The republicans will love to throw mud at Hillary but Bill has proven they can overcome that in a general election. With Edwards having no shot currently a Clinton/Edwards or Obama ticket would have the best shot at getting the job done come November. And on a side note its not racist or bigoted to point out that Obama receives only minimal support among whites and you need the white vote to win a general election. Thats just common sense and facts. Plus its fairly obvious that the black population is supporting Obama simply because he's black. It's not just a coincidence he's receiving 80+% of the black vote when his policies that would appeal to black voters and their economic status are actually less than what Edwards would push for. |

Do they even serve fried chicken in either? Eh, I'm not so sure. ...But Obama still won a great deal of white votes in those states. So, I think you need to question why your "common sense" is telling you Obama can't win. Now, when it comes to black people voting for him just because he's black, don't assume things. Here's a story from yesterday about black women and their candidate allegiance: Quote:

And you will notice this is not the younger white demographic that will push for Clinton it will be the 40-100 range that come out in full force to ensure their wants get fufilled. And because thats the largest % of the population they got the pull to make it happen. And don't forget the largest minority group in the US is the latino community even though they tend not to vote in the same masses as the black community. The Latino community dramatically supports Clinton over Obama. The best thing for Obama last night would have been to get 50-55% of the black vote and take in his 25-30% of the white vote. He still would have won the primary but with numbers that statistically look less threatening to the masses who oppose seeing a black man in office just yet. It would be nice to wish the country was past the race and gender issues but the reality is it just plain isn't. And the more that CNN hypes up the fact with their Anderson Cooper "race vs gender" debates non stop, the more the issue will not go away but rise up.

Based on board comments alone you can see that a lot of non black voters now consider him the n1gg3r candidate since he got so much black support in SC. It's really a shame.

Yep it is a shame but things like that don't go away overnight and things are getting better. It seems to me the younger generations have much less of the prejudice in them then their parents generation. And thats a good step in the right direction. Wish it would happen faster but such is life.

I voted for Edwards. I think his policies best reflect what this country needs right now. I am obviously outnumbered in my opinion. lol
I like both Clinton and Obama and in the general elections I would vote for either of them versus whatever the Republicans throw out. Clinton would most likley be my preference between the two as I feel she can get in there and start from day 1 versus Obama who might need some on the job training. However my point was its not racist to point out that Obama won SC based on the vast majority of blacks voting for him. It is racist however to throw out the n-bomb when referencing this as the original poster did. As Bill Clinton pointed out this past week, people tend to vote with whom they most identify with and sometimes that same person is not the candidate that best represents their interests. It's not racist for a black man to vote for Obama and its not racist for a older white man to vote for McCain and its not sexist for a woman to vote for Clinton. It's also not racist or sexist to point this out. My ![]() |
