There is more to it than just that of course. Iowa showed he could be viable which swung some of the black vote his way in SC. The Clinton campaign decided if that was the way it was going to go they were going to edge that along to make him the black candidate. 80% of the black vote shows there was a large % in the black community that pushed back to support their man based on their race. Which in reality is exactly what they Clinton candidate was hoping for as now they got facts to back up their claims that Obama is a black candidate and being buoyed by his own race. Now you will see the closet racism come in and see how many whites come out to vote to ensure what they thought wasn't possible will indeed not be possible this go round.
And you will notice this is not the younger white demographic that will push for Clinton it will be the 40-100 range that come out in full force to ensure their wants get fufilled. And because thats the largest % of the population they got the pull to make it happen.
And don't forget the largest minority group in the US is the latino community even though they tend not to vote in the same masses as the black community. The Latino community dramatically supports Clinton over Obama.
The best thing for Obama last night would have been to get 50-55% of the black vote and take in his 25-30% of the white vote. He still would have won the primary but with numbers that statistically look less threatening to the masses who oppose seeing a black man in office just yet.
It would be nice to wish the country was past the race and gender issues but the reality is it just plain isn't. And the more that CNN hypes up the fact with their Anderson Cooper "race vs gender" debates non stop, the more the issue will not go away but rise up.
