You lift weights?

So i finally got my ass in gear the past few months & started pumping some iron. I'm not trying to turn into a power-lifter, just trying to lift to get some definition (slow + large number of reps).

I used to be in such good shape...& then i got into this business!

My forearms are pumping back up right now & im finally benching 150lbs like its a pillow...it feels good to be gettin back in shape.

For those of you who are just waisting away behind your computers, just remember how good you used to feel before you got into this line of work

So how many of you are pumpin up this winter?

I wake up at 5 am and hit the gym. If you make it your first thing to do in the day it gets done with no excuses. Then drink 3 lean body by Labrada. You'll be lean in no time.. yeah

been going everyday (m-f) for about 4 months now, feels great and I DEFINATELY get way more accomplished now then ever. Amazing what working does for your mental state. Also, I used to snowboard 5 days a week in crested butte and for whatever reason (too much nady ice) I was the fattest I ever been.

Anyways working out allows me to get more work done and plus it gets you instantly laid.

if he has been into bodybuilding for years he can be natural for sure. Three years ago when i was the half day in gym from the age of 16 everybody was asking me the same. What kind of shit i'm getting....but I wasn't getting anything. At the age of 18 i could lift with my arms 160pounds standing....Now after near a year outside gym (except ocassional startups) it looks like a past dream.

Last 10 days I started exercising again in a regular program, like never before. I think it's matter of 6 months to be back in the shape i was. I have made many startups the last year, but didnt manage to follow seriously, this time i'm doing it :-)

yes, soul_rebel is right... i've never taken anything, in fact i could be much more muscular if i would just take the initiative to eat properly and not each so much junk food. and also i could be a lot bigger as far as my frame goes, if i lifted legs as well. i'm gonna start incorperating legs into my routine... one of the primary principles that is often overlooked when a person wants to increase their mass, is by doing a lot of deadlifting and SQUATS. yes a lot of people think how are squats going to help me increase my bench? trust me, they do, its fullbody and it releases certain hormones that promote growth. so yeah, its something you should start doing from the beginning as i have regretfully learned. the guys who are extremely muscular and usually have a lot of acne on their backs are the ones who have probably juiced before. www.bigroncoleman.com for example

but anyways, you can get rather big if you workout and eat correctly.

Never did any free-weights but I did do the cardio/weight machine workout thing for a while. In a way I do miss it. I lost weight and inches in a very short space of time without changing my diet. I had more energy as well. At the moment I'm not doing anything but we are thinking about starting to go regularly after the baby is born. We (my husband and I) have both turned into jelly in the last 2 years and we'd definitely benefit from a regular workout program. The best thing would be if I could fit a Yoga/Pilates class in there a couple times a week followed by a swim and sauna. Hmm, you've got me thinking now.....

good tip galleryseek

another important thing for someone that exercises with weights is not to exceed the 1min rest time between sets! it sounds fucking hard and it is at the beginning, but its the only way for real fast results. If you are about to take some 5-10min rest between sets, forget it,stay at home :-)

also, a good place to learn a lot about training routines + nutrition + recipes is www.freakzonline.com there are some very informative people there, and you can ask any question and it'll get a response within a reasonable amount of time. of course there are newbies and people who claim to know their shit, but in time you'll know who the real people are.

that is very true, squats and deadlift, is a DEFINITE if u wanna gain mass. Your body is built so it balances out alot of things and make sure things are usually porpotional , plus squats helps build core strength

There's different opinions on what's the best way to do it. I was a competitve bodybuilder in my teens. NPC Teen competitions and all. I've been lifting for 14 years now. I never stopped but of course I had to slow down a little when work became serious. I have made better gains taking my time in between sets and focusing on form during.

In between reps taking time out and doing some deep myofascial stretching on the muscle group you are working will take you a little further than racing back for another set. Blasting a muscle is not a race. When it is over you know if you have effectively blasted a muscle.

Here's a pic I took in July for another thread.

escortbiz... when i first started lifting, i didn't really know what i was doing as a lot of us... i started out with bar basically for the first 10 or so months... basically the routine i did w/ that was either start on flat bench or incline bench.. typical 4 sets starting at 12 reps, down to 4 to 6 unassisted, then i would switch to the flat or the incline (whichever i didn't start out with).. and do basically the same thing... then i'd do either incline flies or flat flies
and they weren't the typical flies.. i'd extend out all the way w/ my palms facing forward basically (hard to explain), then as i came up i twist my arms in so the back of my hands were facing eachother... did 3 sets of that... then for the 4th exercise i'd go to the cables and either do the flies w/ it w/ the grips on the top (for lower chest), or the grips on the bottom for upper chest....
but for a full year basically, i didn't do any bar at ALL when it came to chest.

i did all free weights for chest... i got up to 100 lbs per arm... but for the past 2 months i've been going back to bar and basically meshing flat dumbell press / the barbell presses. its always good to get a variety in when it comes to chest.. always change it up and do both barbell and dumbells.. dumbells are primarily for cutting, where as barbells are for mass.

I work out but just in the weight room in my apartment building and the stack only goes up to 200lbs. I do 200 for bench, 180 for over- and under-hand pulldowns, 180-160-140 for curls on the machine or 55lbs (dumbell) per arm freeweight, and 55lbs for behind-the-head tricep extensions (85 if I put it on the one barbell we have).

It's really pathetic with such light weights available. I've been thinking of buying some dumbells, but it would cost a lot to get a variety of weights. Anyone know of places to get good deals online?

Well, damn. I was looking at one of their benches:

Max. Recommended Weight: 390 LB.

Shit, I'm 350 by myself. I can't see a 40lb workout being very useful.

I got a special deal on the plates and hex dumbells there. I just looked at it. I don't see my Power cage listed anymore. Everything else I picked up here and there.

If you are stocking up for yourself definitely grab a power cage and build around it. It's the best all purpose piece you can have.

Dunno, the company is in Brooklyn too so I cut a special deal.

I wasn't thinking about this before but do what I did and run a google search for exercise equpment sales in your area. Shipping on the equipment isn't that bad but ordering the plates and the dumbells will kill you if you don't work out a good deal with a local supplier. This way you can just go pick it up yourself if you want to.
