Do you Meditate?

I've started meditation and tai chi last week. I'm finding 20 minutes a day of meditation makes me feel real good and gives me positive energy.

Anyone doing this here?

It is man, you light up some nag champa to fill the room with a nice soothing smell and then you sit yourself comfortably and just remove all thoughts from your head.

To me it's like a small daily cleansing.

I am thinking in the new year I will add Kung Fu or Tea Kwan Do to this weekly routine.

Funny how our mind, goals and what we are attracted to, changes with aging

I used to meditate and do tai chi every morning. Then I fell off track.

There is no doubt that I handle stressful situations better when I am able to be in the meditation groove.

Yes, I;m doing something like that.
You can start with it and work 1-2 or 3 weeks.
And you will be happy. But after some time you will be very sad!
When you feel the sadness you must continue! That is the secret of meditation!

Ever since I was a young child...

In my early years I took a few years of training in different martial arts styles, and the main thing that has stayed with me from all of them was meditation.

Aikido is one form that to this day would probably be first in my book for relaxation. Takes a lot of discipline, and concentration... as far as my book goes, the more discipline and concentration exerted, the more relaxed i am.

When it comes to motivating myself to do it, it is funny how sitting still and thinking of nothing for 20 minutes can seem like such hard work ;)

I get 20-40 minutes in most days. Good stuff.

i do aabout 30minutes of meditation 2 or 3 times a week. over the summer I had nothing better to do so i was doing the meditation thing every day. after a couple weeks it wasn't a real big deal to sit down and zone out for a good hour plus. it really is a great form of relaxation to turn your mind away from the stress of your surroundings, and to focus on finding answers to unanswered questions that have been bothering you. i was priming up for my meditation with a quick yoga routine to limber up, but tai chi would probably serve the same sort of purpose. a good combination of breathing exercises, stretching, and mental clarity is priceless...

need to make the time ;)

i know how you feel though. it's hard to set aside time to literally do absolutely nothing at all. if i could, i'd still be sitting there an hour a day, and i'd like to, but there's only so many hour sin a day and most of mine are all snatched up

If you'd like to continue on in the same vain as the meditation, I would suggest Aikido. If it's a choice between the two you mentioned, I'd suggest kung fu.

Meditate?

Only when I medicate

I do sorta meditate. I think everyone does, even if they don't know it.

Daydreams, wandering thoughts, wondering what COULD be, even setting a goal. The simple act of all are meditation on a small scale.

I meditate often, in that context, usually late at night, in bed. I "envision" what I want to happen. The subconscious takes over and makes it happen. As long as you keep it up, that is, and actually believe it, and the goal is attainable, physically.

It can and will happen if you believe it strong enough and long enough. The believing is the hard part for most people.
