I stayed serving tables for 5 years because it was the only place in my area that was flexible with my school schedule and paid enough to keep a roof over my head. |

I was on my way into a career in Hospitality -- even got Bachelors. The following summer, I decided to "take it easy" and just fuck around for a bit.
Totally got spoiled that summer and DECIDED I PREFERRED TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BILL. Uhhh, and now here I am. LOL |

You screwed yourself. People with money want to keep it.
If your policy is to automatically charge 20% then just do it. |

You are the one that gave him the option to lower the tip.... ALso jusat because he paid WAY to much for some booze which inflated the bill you think you were entitled to make more money? if those few bottles were diet coke you still would have done the same work and his bill would have been hundreds less. I think you should be thankfull you got anything and not stiffed.:2 cents: |

you may not feel the need to tip people that make $2.15 an hour but I do. Even if the service is average at best. In Canada if the same service is provided I definitely tip less than i would in the exact same situation in the states. And my point is its the restaurant owners that win down south, low overhead and custom that depends on peoples humanity to make sure their employees get paid. They sure don't lower their food prices to take into account your paying their employees wages I'll guarantee you that. Anyway I am done with you. Think its time you joined GatorB on my ignorant ignore list. |

In Canada I start and 10% and work my way up and down. Most times its more. I would say its rare to get deducted and I would say I have not tipped someone only about 5 times and that took some serious shit service to get that. But I agree that not all Canadians understand that the US wait staff gets paid brutal salaries and think they get similar wages that they get up here. Big difference between $2.50 an hour and $8 an hour. 10% on my $30 bill now has them at $11 an hour in Canada if they only had my table which is usually not the case. Thats still only $5.50 an hour stateside. Not sure either system is better for service mind you. Stateside its considered a god given right to get tipped no matter what so service can be pretty uninspiring as a result and up here they get a decent base and know they will still get 10% so they don't go full out either. At least I don't feel guilty for tipping less in Canada if thats the case. |
Wait what the fuck is the bullshit with if you can not tip at least 10 to 15 percent you shouldn't go out to eat? What about do an outstanding job and make my night out fantastic and I will gladly pony over a good tip but fuck my night up and you will be lucky that I not only write a big ass zero on the tip lines but also complain to the manager on the way out.
I do not care if you early a low hourly rate, yet around here they do get minimum wage plus tips so that argument not valid with me. I tip and I tip often, hell I tip many people who most never do tip just out of custom of what my grandparents taught me (mailman anyone?). However I was raised and still believe that tipping is 100% optional and based on exceptional service. Hell as a kid when I delivered papers not only was it required that they be rolled, bagged, banged, and on a porch or in a paper holder by no later than 6am. I had to also pay for every newspaper myself, every rubber band, every plastic bag, my delivery bag, my receipt book, you name it. Then it was my duty to go collect from customers. Tips were very damn important to me and I imagine just as important to any waiter. Though I made sure to find out the customers desires and then meet or exceed them. No knocking papers off the door, placing them in the V of the porch support so the dog wouldn't grab it which also meant getting off my bike to do it, you name it. I however was rewarded for it. All the while also knowing that just two complaints in a month would mean me loosing my damn route. So yes I can understand the service industry. I just have a peeve when people act or assume they are entitled or that I am less of a person if I tip someone according to the service provided. Oh something else. Those laughing at the Quizno's tip jar, why? They not only are serving you, they are actually personally assembling your meal as per your request. Why is this different than some chain place you sit down at and Jane smith brings you your choose 3 from Apple bee's. Hell I actually think in that instant quizno's person should trump Apple bee's lady. |

DWB and John T Bone are thrilled with the new change of events.
All of this attention to an Atlanta attorney and a poor tip have diverted our attention. I doubt the FBI has this short of an attention span |
