I never understand such questions

especially for anyone moderately succesfull - everyone has a spare $1000 dollars and rather much more

so for me if you gave me $1k now i'd just put it in the bank or use for current expenses or whatever

or are you saying "if i want to start in this biz with $1k then what do i do?"?
but i dont think you want to ask that since you've been ehre for 2 years already

so theres no real answer to your question im afraid

I have a 1k setting aside. I'm opening a scottrade account and investing in 3 stocks that i've been researching for 24 months. (sorry no symbols.. spent a long time researching these gems)

The 1k is a test run to make sure then more to follow...

I suggest you do the same, drop 1k in the market and watch it ride.

If you were in Canada I could show you how to put $1500 into an RRSP for only $1k.

I always think a girlfriend or wife are much like prostitutes anyway; although with the wife you have to buy her a "gift" to get her in the mood, but with the hookers, it's a straight-forward monetary transaction without the stupid gift facade.

Maybe that's why I'm single...

Huh, none of my fellow Canuckleheads wants to know how to invest $1500 for only $1k?

Interesting.

A bit surprising, but interesting. It's such a nifty maneuver but I suppose not everyone can afford to part with a thousand bucks a year, even if they stand to make a 30% gain on their investment.

*shrugs*

A "thousand to ignore" or an extra thousand assumes your debts are already paid or being paid.

I'm just surprised it took so many posts for someone to ask.

Okay, here goes.... And I don't want any guff about this from any dipshit armchair accountants here. This comes straight from my investment guy's newsletter, he's been managing my portfolio since 2000. The guy knows what he is talking about.

Temporary Loan Strategy: By example.

Bob can afford $1,000 savings/investment and decides to get an RRSP.

He makes $48,000 so his combined marginal tax rate is 35.5% (in Manitoba).
He borrows $536 to go with his $1,000 savings and makes an RRSP contribution of $1,536
No payments are due on the loan for 6 months. The rate is 7%.
He gets a tax refund of $545 because of the RRSP.
He uses the refund to pay the loan off including $9 for 3 months interest.
He has now put $1,536 in his RRSP for only $1,000. His RRSP growth is 50% more than without the Temporary Loan.

There it is.

Check with your own bank's investment advisor or your own accountant, but in Canada it is fully doable. It may even be similarly doable in the US to some degree, I don't know.

6 months from now come tax time some of you who are smart enough to take advantage of this technique will thank me.

I even recommend this to people with bad credit. It's a great way to build your credit rating up too

Hehe

use secondary SE's and PPC solid networks (not shitty ones like adbrite).

Don't pay too much and use things that has proven to sell..

example could be fling $0.2/click.

that worked fine for me

I think you forgot the # 1 rule of GFY, everyone here is a millionaire, no one is broke, or just getting by, or doing ok.

Kind of like in poker, everyone is a winner, no one ever leaves the casino broke.
