I normally have a live and let live attitude toward SEO and my competition. I don't really do anything that's not legit meaning I'm pretty much white hat in regards to SEO.

Overall I don't have an issue with Black Hat SEO if it's kept within reasonable limits. I've only reported one guy in the past and today was the second.

I was checking my serp listings and came across a guy that must have 40 or 50 domains all listed under the same search terms. You get to like page 3 or 4 in the serps and it's nothing but his listings for the next 5 pages in google all different domains that all redirect to tours.

It's total BS and IMO the guy needs his domains banned so I was glad to report him. I figure everyone is here to make buck, so I can live with some Black Hat.. However there are limits and I'm not going to lose income to a spamming fool.

So do you report excessive spam?

What's blackhat ? What's whitehat ? What's in between ? All this reporting just leads to EVERYBODY making less, because a guy who loses income because you report him will go out and report others because he feels pissed. It goes on and on.

A friend of mine runs a free blog service (mainstream). As soon as a blog on his domain hits the top 10 in google for almost any monetizable keyword, there is a double digit number of spam reports, even if it's just one listing and the site is completely legit, unique and useful for the surfer.

Conclusion: Few spam reports are justified, in well understand it in your special case. Most are just done by people who want to fuck you because you are better. They suck @ the internet and want to vent their frustration by hurting others.

He has listings for other terms as well, that's just one I choose to show. So yes this kind of BS does affect others that are targeting the same keywords.

It wouldn't bug me too much if the guy had 1 or 2 sites doing it, but man it's a bit freaking ridiculous to spam the serps with that many domains for the same keywords, all with the same redirects and BS.

Heres a quickie. I just read up on the "competition bowling" ...

I did my SEO work and i did it right, I used no backhandedness, just pure proper placement.

I had a keyword phrase pegged..."mature phone sex" I had it #1 in google for months. I changed nothing. Some personal competition, Im talking into the real life people i knew before this business had #2 ...

i think they bowled me. If anything they practice bakchandedness. I Just sat there. but i didnt just drop, IM gone! like nowhere except looking up my actual domain.

this is google were talking about. what can i do to recover my placement. Or become valid again. I mean i can understand if I dropped, but im gone!... i had to have been bowled.

I have no issues at all getting good keywords and ranking well in google. I do it all on the up and up and and my listings tend to stay in place for months at a time even years in some cases. Only time I ever have issues, is if google changes something drastic like their latest update. In most cases I can get back where I was with in a reasonable amount of time.

As I said I don't have an issue with a little black hat here and there it's no biggie to me. I don't do it myself, but it doesn't mean I'm going to rat on guys that do it, just because I want to be a dick.

However, if the guy is doing nothing but spam and I'm having to compete with it.. Well you can damn sure bet he will get reported. We are all here to make a buck and there is no excuse for that kinda BS, especially when I'm competing for the same keywords he is..

I've been doing this since 2003 and this is only the second guy I've ever reported, the other was doing the same BS as well. I can deal with guys that use one or two domains to do this crap, it doesn't bug me at all. However this kind of shit I will report it when I see it, because there is no reason for it.

You should only report the codec installers IMHO.

Forget the parasite hosting that leads to legit purchases for the consumer. It's not like Google doesn't know, that their algo is fucked, and your spam report about stuff they are painfully aware of won't attract a lot of attention.

Also reporting guys that fill up page after page with doorways, doesn't seem to work very well. This is only borderline black hat, and more of a serp quality problem. Chances are he won't have his domains banned, unless he has 1000's of ill gotten links, which he doesn't need for low profile serps, if he's any good.

Instead of complaining about black hatters, maybe you should be complaining about Google?

VR I checked the whois prior to even making this thread, so I knew who's sites they were, hence the reason I posted it here. As I said I have no issues about guys that do a little black hat or what ever as long as it's within reason and not infecting surfers with Trojans.

I think it's pretty safe to say that using that many domains with all the exact same content on them, each targeting the exact same keywords is most defiantly spamming and the redirect to the sponsor page is blackhat.

It's quite simple really.. As I posted before, we are all in this to make a buck, I'm not going to try to report a guy that's doing a little black hat or this or that just because he's the competition. I figure to each his own and my sites will likely be in the serps much longer than the guy whom is cheating the system.

So when you are uploading the exact same site to 50 domains in an attempt to spam google with your listings.. Well you might want to remember, the other guys are trying to make a buck too and they might not take your spamming kindly.

If you get 5 pages of listings for the same search results using different content, then more power to yea man. However anytime I see useless spam like that it's going to get reported.

Remember, a lot of us make money from search engines. Spammed results cause bad user experiences and can tend to cause those users to not trust the listings anymore. IMO reporting useless spam is protecting my investment in time and money spent doing it on the up and up.

It's one thing to beat guys that have a listing or two. If you look what he's doing he's spamming the same keywords with about 50 different domains.. So he has 5 or 6 pages of nothing but his listings.. All the exact same pages, just on different domain names.

The other issue at hand, is the more this kind of BS is done the more surfers will go elsewhere. Would you continue to use google if it was nothing but spam? Would you like it or people stopped using google, because they couldn't find anything that's useful to them? How would that hurt your biz?

Just like e-mail spam makes e-mail almost useless. Guys like VRock are making the search engines useless. It's BS and should be reported.
