We are all reseller to a certain point, including Iweb that resells the BW from Teleglobe, Videotron, Cogent .... Teleglobe resells the copper and optic fiber they bought ... and so on ....

The way I look at it is, DRM is needed, but it should not be client-based.

DRM cant be 100% secure, but those 5% that know how to rip, distribute and find pirated content, will never want to pay for access anyways.

The biggest loss for Affiliates, are site owners watermarking the videos, so when the surfer DL the movie from he FHG, he jerks and then visit the siteurl in the video.

Ok, I just thought you were another iweb reseller, and nothing bad in that either since they are one of the few good hosting companies out there, with a solid support section that actually know what they do, and DO give a shit about their customers

No you can't other than whatever you "claim" to produce.

I've heard things about you privately. They aren't pretty. I don't know what your agenda is but if you're trying to make a name for yourself, you're failing miserably and making yourself look incredibly stupid in the process.

You remind me of guys who know everything about nothing.

Most of what you have heard are probably true, and I personally think stickyfingerz would benefit from a kick in the head, But don't take part in those peoples personal shit, and expect them to stay the hell out of mine as well. Therefore I stay on topic and stick to the facts. The Keyboard warrior acts is reserved for people who don't take their job or the industry seriously

Just another azn webmaster. But im not kidding, if you can get the premission for me, I wont mind spending some time documenting how the security in Microsoft DRM is exploitable. They will proberly patch it soon, and then there will just be another new addont to fix it.

The more people that know about this issue, the faster we will see better DRM systems, and in the end that means more money for all of us.

I've got a feeling you're an actual webmaster so don't waste time with this guy. He's a fucking moron. In all likelyhood, he's messaging people for our IP addresses so he can maintain his message board status.

Go search this guy's posts.

good luck.

It don't matter really. If you get the permission and we end up doing this, I will use a ripper that is clientbased. It don't really care what or how the content is streamed, as long as it can be played in MS Medialplayer10 using a known codex

Im not doing this for Him or myself. Im doing it for the community to document the current DRM security situation.

I have been doing business whit his former boss Chris, and Ryan have been posting on other boards where I have been active for quite a few years. But I don't really care, since we don't do business with each-other or have competing sites.

Knocking threads like this off track is an AFF speciality, sort of like bumping their own contest threads. Sticky, you have done a great job taking the discussion way off track. I don't give a rats ass HOW the content was stolen (and if it displays on a users computer, it can be copied in some manner... 100%) - I care that someone is paying the thieves to stay in business.

Get over your bad self, quit telling everyone to buy bigger and more expensive locks. Maybe it would be better just to stop paying the criminals to work?

Yup cause if the door falls off my house I should just watch people walk in and take shit, throw my arms up and shrug. Saying well the door will just break again, or they will just come in through a window. The underlying issue is how to deliver our content to our consumers without it being able to be shared. Typical inside the box thinkers will say it cant be done, and look to blame others. In this case go after the largest sponsor of adult and mainstream on the internet.

Just outright silly to say that it cant be stopped.

More like

- stealing money from us by using hotbars like Zango to replace the affiliate codes
- sponsoring torrent sites that distribute our content, hurting the sales
- refusing to answer the questions we ask in his own posts

I guess you miss those parts of the whole problem.

It's actually pretty easy to capture any type of video (protected or not)... if it plays on your screen, a simple video capture app will work nicely and save it to a format of your choice.

And to get back on track yes i think AFF to leave the building. Will it happen i dont think so. I never seen a company steal traffic and do everything unethical and then flaunt it in your face. Now of course they will have there supports. But those will be the making money with them of course.

Shit Pimpdogg is one of the most hated on the boards but you will never read about him screwing affiliate over or fucking anyone.

Ok I really have nothing much to say about AFF or anyone else for that matter... other then our company name has been brought up in this tread many time.

1- no content is 100% secure its the Internet and if someone can secure it with time someone will brake it... and even with DRM there are ways to grab the content via screen capture software (like print screen for video)

2- as for the news group.. Most that are used for video download, are full of DVD rips not rips from VOD sites

3- "Fair use doesn't work to Remove the DRM as MS did an update to the DRM a short time after the software came out. *As long as people did the needed updates.*

KimJI - Great talking to you on ICQ.. and yes you're completely correct you can screen grab any video no matter how secure as you are capturing the video screen capture software.

I don't care if they're here or not. I pulled AFF off my sites a while ago, anyway.

Now ya know where I was coming from. Agreed nothing is 100% at least right now, but there are ways to really make it difficult. My whole question is why isnt there a company out there looking to make a business of this in adult. I know there are mainstream companies working on delivery systems for large companies like network tv etc. DRM isnt really the solution. But more a delivery system that is flash based with its own player for in members areas etc.

All Im saying is there is some out of the box thinking to be done.

The biggest problem is it the cost of a DRM system. It will cost you $10k+ just to get hardware, licenses and setup of a DRM system, and then you need to implement it in you design. Its a lot of money to invest in gear that dont earn you any money. The average siteowner dont operate on a budget that can handle that.

But someone is thinking outside the box. Some time this month Im realeasing a document about streaming, drm and what affiliates should demand from promo content in the future.

This has all been rehashed many times by everyone including me but I won't let that stop me from rambling on again .

No I don't think he should be leave GFY, either voluntarily or be banned.

What has AFF done wrong? Got traffic from sources some people don't approve of?

If that is a bannable offense then GFY would be empty of both sponsors and affiliates.

They are continuously made out to be the devil because they are the biggest Adult sponsor and have been the most vocal on the malware/stolen content problem. By being the most vocal, I mean they actually bothered to reply.

In replying they pissed off a lot more people who now very quickly get behind any witchhunt thread with calls of "burn them burn them" because Lars insulted them and they will now hate him forever. This happens daily on GFY and elementary school playgrounds all around the world so no biggie.

Most people who chime in on these threads have lost sight of the problem and now focus on "If AFF just would stop doing this everything would be solved"

Don't give me that crap excuse about if an industry leader sets a good example others will follow. This industry is full of vultures at all levels who will scoop in for the scraps that anyone else leaves behind. The only thing people in this industry follow is the law and not even that sometimes.

Isn't Lensman an industry leader? His public stance so far as I can see has been

"uh that's not good" and to get the word "playboy" banned on one torrent site. Look at all the sponsors that removed their ads after Lensman spoke out.......

I repeatedly pointed out a playboy affiliate advertising on a torrent site. Nobody said anything but the ad was removed from the torrent site a while later. The same ad is currently one step away at the moment. That is, it appears on a site that advertises on a torrent site but the ad goes to a parked domain now so the affiliate doesn't care or didn't get around to fixing it.

Look what happened when AFF dropped zango. Did sexsearch, sexbankroll etc etc etc follow their lead? No they said "Fuckin A, a bigger slice of the toolbar traffic for us weeee!" No net change in income for your average affiliate.

Same thing with torrents. If AFF drops ALL torrents tomorrow will that do anything? Nope Torrents will move their second most profitable sponsor into top spot and not miss a beat.

The whole AFF supports cp claim is laughable. So every sponsor on a torrent site is contributing to cp? Their ads come up whether searching for cp or disney movies. There are Yahoo ads on some torrent sites. Why no nationwide outcries that Yahoo supports cp?

Because it's not shexy if it doesn't involve AFF. I love pointing out all the other sponsors advertising in exactly the same places as AFF. You know why? It's a great test to see who is actually looking for a solution to the problem and who just likes to bitch. I honestly think that over half of the posters in "we hate AFF" threads don't even know that they don't use zango anymore and still think AFF is the only torrent sponsor out there.

I have been very pleasantly surprised lately with the momentum gathering against other sponsors who accept traffic from torrents and file sharing sites. Previously, nine times out of ten the sponsor won't respond, nobody cares enough to bump it and the thread will drop like a lead balloon.

The main reason I continually point out other sponsors on those sites is that I want to reinforce that the problem is Industry wide rather than one sponsor and therefore the solution doesn't depend on one sponsor's actions or inactions. Again, if you disagree, what makes you think it will work for torrents/file sharing if it didn't work for zango?

I am very pessimistic about a "solution" but am happy to contribute to raising awareness for now. I am currently an affiliate with many of the same companies who did or do have their ads on torrent sites like AFF, Playboy etc as I still fail to see how dropping them will solve the problem and the only result will be less money for me.

Being an affiliate, it is much easier for me to follow the "adapt or die" outlook (which I do) rather than someone like DWB who currently relies on DVDs but I hope that those guys will figure out a solution with VOD or some new technology around the corner.

Ok thas is kind of what Im talking about. Think of this. A proprietary player that can be customized for each paysite. The user can download the player, and have like a playlist of content he can add to it from the site, or an interface of some sort that allows the user to select the content. He may stream it, or he may download it fully to watch later. The player calls back to check his subscription much like a drm license will do. The difference being the player is setup by the company to work with only that sites, or network of sites content. I know there have been attempts at windows media player based setups before, but Ive yet to see a flash based one. There are ways it can be done is what Im saying, maybe not 100% security, but make it difficult enough its too much of a hassle. Or that the site owner can randomly change codes that might be hacked etc. Always ways to change things for the better.

as long as people talk about your company you shouldn't leave only when nobody cares you could consider leaving.

Because porn buyers like to download clips thats why that wont work and they have always been able to do that for a long long time.If you think you will change that your nuts. The reason network TV is different full shows on the internet are a new thing, so they can train them. Sticky unless you have your own sites your really speaking out of turn, its easy to pontificate from a far. Wonder how you would feel if a shit load of your drm stripped content is sitting on a BT next to a couple of big AFF ads. Then tell me how you are not anti AFF.

either way, why would anyone even need to steal content? there is so free and completely legal stuff on pornotube, rude.com, guba and tangotime.com that I can't even fathom why a well informed surfer would pay for porn now.

It's easy to talk when its not your content Its stealing not innovation and when extreme Christian parents find porn on the kids computers its from BT's not paysites so it makes us all look bad. If companies didnt allow them to become affiliates they wouldn't exist because they wouldn't make any money. Now maybe do you think Lens may have a so what attitude here but in private the lawyers are firing off letters. Also there is no way for the adult industry to make money off of a place that gives all our content away for free. I wonder what conversion of ads on a BT, I highly doubt good numbers.
