Sort of a long post - so just skip it if you aren't in a reading mood for personal drama ...

HPV Is what my ex had that nearly gave her cervical cancer. She had it cut out in time but supposedly she would have this form of HPV the rest of her life but they didn't call it herpes. They are guessing she got it when she had the clap back when she was 13 years old (this happened 2 1/2 years ago). This is what they are vaccinating all the young teenagers (pre puberty now) with now I am pretty sure.

Out of 13 family members or friends over the least 6 years that had children (they were all 19-28) 8 of them had to have the LEAP procedure done to remove tissue caused by the HPV. Somehow it is linked to STD's but not sure, there is so much misinformation and conflicting information out there it's hard to know what the truth is. Does having HPV mean you carry some form of HSV as well, this is where I start getting confused - the more I google it and read the more I get confused. Anyways ...

Now my ex also had "Oral" herpes ... which she was rx'd valtrex for by the same doctor I see. She did get nasty cold sores for a couple years that started out of nowhere (my guess is she had oral sex with someone who had genital herpes?) about a month after we started seeing eachother. My doctor NEVER warned me about being careful in sexual relations with her or anything. Legally if she also had genital herpes the doctor would be required by law to tell me, right ?

Would it have been possible for me to get genital herpes by her giving me oral sex when she had one of these outbreaks? As far as I know I am herpes free and have definitely never had the symptoms but ...

One of her friends that I always thought she was cheating on me with gave his wife genital herpes - I know her (his wife) pretty well so she told me about it yesterday and was asking for my advice on something. He is claiming he must have oral herpes and passed genital herpes on to her by going down on her. She is accepting it - I think mostly because she doesn't want to admit the truth to herself that he is cheating on her.

So here's the gist of it, I *think* my ex who had oral herpes was fucking around on me when we were together with this guy that just gave his wife genital herpes. All kinds of combinations come along but this makes it A LOT more likely (in my eyes anyways) that the two of them were indeed fucking around and however Herpes gets passed along it went from her cold sores to his wife's pussy .. Or maybe it originally came from him .. who knows .. it's confusing.

I'm defintely getting myself tested again this week to make sure. But what the hell are the chances you get genital herpes from someone who has only oral herpes by having oral sex with them ? Always when she was breakout free obviously because she isn't going to give me head with a big ass cold sore ... I spent a lot of time reading up on this before I made this post but different sites had different info so I was hoping Dr. Feelgood might actually be around GFY - lol .. Seriously, anyone with any knowledge on this stuff that could chime it, would be cool ...

It's not the same thing. 90% of sexually active people have HPV. There's a new vaccine that's somewhat controversial that will prevent it that they recommend giving to pre-adolscent girls. Oral herpes and Genital herpes are both still the same (HSV). And in fact it is common, way more common then most think (1 in 5 have it supposedly).

HSV-1 & HSV-2 are both most commonly transferred through skin to skin contact with the infected area. However, it can be trasnferred when no signs of an oubreak are apparent. Oral herpes can be trasnferred to Genital herpes, and vise versa

Most people DO have herpes 1 or 2, doctors don't test for it anymore when you go get a STD screening because they say they don't want to "alarm people". You have to ask for a HSV test seperately to get one, and you have to know which kind of test to INSIST on or they will give you the cheap innacurate test by default. (talking about general practitioners, not porn docs).

Yes you can catch TYPE 1 and II HSV from oral/genital contact, so if your partner has genital herpes Type II and you stick her vagina in your mouth, you can end up with type II in your mouth and vice versa.

This isn't scare tactics, it's medical knoledge.

Statistically your chance of catching if you are negative and they are positive but not having an outbreak is less than 10%, with Valtrex your chances drop to 2%.

HPV is genital warts, totally different ballgame.
