What u think about gastric bypass?
I have seen lately more and more people make this surgery ,trying to loose weight . To make smaller your stomach.
I believe is not a healthy way . This is my opinion. What you think about that? Read here: http://ezinearticles.com/?Celebritie...rgery&id=94828 XX Elly Jaine.

my opinion is if you have the money and are willing to go to extreme measures like this..be ready to fork out more money for plastic surgery galore..like $100k for a full body lift. They will hate their body even more after they lose weight cause the skin hangs off of them in bags.

I know someone that had it done, this was about 6 years ago. It may not be healthy but neither was being as over weight as he was. The last time I saw him he had lost about 250 lbs, he said he slept now, he could wipe his ass, and hug his kids.
It isn't for everyone, but if you have some serious weight or health issues because of weight, it for sure is worth looking into.

Fortunately i don't want to do and i don't need it.
I prefer to do sport and to mantain my weight by watching carefully what i eat, keeping a healthy diet. But i just don't agree with this. My personal opinion. Elly Jaine.

I have a close relative that had this done in 2003. It was very painful, had an extreme recovery curve, and was touch and go for a few months.
But, he is now under 200 pounds, extremely strong, and the long-term outlook for him is great. If a person is that far over the edge and they choose to take the risk, I'm all for it. |

Here are some side effects.
"About a year ago, we began to hear more and more about the potentially fatal risks associated with gastric bypass surgeries, snatching away much of its "quick-fix, cure-all" allure. Researchers have identified a new and potentially very dangerous side effect: A severe hypoglycemic reaction that may require emergency treatment. The study features details of three non-diabetic gastric bypass patients who experienced such high insulin levels after eating their meals, their cognitive abilities became impaired and, sometimes, blacked out. In two cases, those blackouts led to two car accidents. After their bypass surgeries and significant weight loss, patients developed postprandial hypoglycemia (low blood sugar after meals) that failed to respond to any dietary or medical treatment. Eventually, the condition required partial or full removal of their pancreas. Researchers blame their patients' severe hypoglycemia on what's called the dumping syndrome, a condition that occurs when the small intestine fills up too quickly with undigested food from the stomach. As I've said before, when you use the wrong tool to "cure" any medical condition -- especially when it's a lifestyle medical concern like obesity -- you're virtually guaranteed to have problems. Of course, that hasn't stopped people, like the former half-ton man, from doing it anyway. People forget it didn't take them a day to gain all those extra pounds, and it will take considerably longer to lose it safely and smartly." http://www.mercola.com/blog/2005/oct...ss_su rgeries

Two people in my family have had it done. Both were only thin for maybe a year, then gained it all back.

Obesity is a mental condition as much as a physical one. People need to learn how to be healthy. GBS doesn't treat the root of the problem.

For some, it is the only choice, their health is so poor without it, they would die.

I think we should be permitted to hunt fat people "Running Man" style. Now there's an incentive to not be a fat fuck.

You talking about a subject from looking at your pictures you know nothing about. What do you weigh maybe 110? People that are 100's of pounds overweight, chances are have lose and regained 100's of pounds. The failure rate of diets is about 95%, this is a tool that saves lives.

Hey guys, I had gastric bypass done about 14 months ago. I lost 170 pounds.
I used to weigh 320 pounds...but keep in mind Im also only 5'5. I now weigh about 150 and am able to do things I never thought I would be able to do again. The little things that we all take for granted... - Tie my shoes. - Sit on airplanes. - Park in a tight spot in the parking lot and get out of my car without any trouble. - Run, jump, excercise...without hurting my knees or back. This list goes on... I know its my fault I let it get so bad, but I need to do something to fix it. The surgery is not the cure to obesity...it's simply a tool to help along the way to a better, healthier life. Right after surgery, I joined a boxing gym and began a regular workout routine as well as better diet. I didnt want the surgery to be my only excuse for losing weight...I didnt want to sell myself short, so even though I had the surgery, I still worked out and ate healthy foods. Now, I am in good shape and I feel great. Im going to have my first amatuer boxing match in about a month. I never thought in a million years I would have that chance. This surgery is definately not for everyone...and yes, it does have risks, but I was in a bad place and the risks were worth it for me. |

These surgeries are dangerous and life threatening. Many people from complications of the surgery. No one should get them done- ever, no matter how obese they start out. Even under the best possible result, unless a fatty learns to eat sensibly and exercise, they are only going to end up with unsightly loose skin anyway, and then most likely gain all the weight back eventually.

My mother had it done, she weighed 375lbs. Got her down to 175, but that was after the plastic surgery to have her skin flabs removed. Honestly, i would rather look at a fat person than look at a sack of potatoes with a saggy face. Hell she even had to have her eyelids done, every time she opened her eyes they would sag too....

Most places and insurance policies require that the patient try a doctor supervised diet for 6 months prior to the the surgery, psychological consultatons, and attend support groups.
I have a friend that had it done, he was 650lbs., not a diabetic, no real medical problems other than his morbid obesity. He had it done a couple years ago at the age of 44 (how many obese 50 yr olds do you see?) he had plastic surgury to have excess skin removed at the same time. The actual bypass went fine, the plastic surgeon ran into complications, and the whole peocess took close to 6 hours. My friends kidneys shut down and he was in induced coma for 3 days, he spent 8 months in the hospital recovering from pinched nerves and bed sores (from not moving for 3 days). He has had 3 more surgerys to remove skin and has no belly button and he will tell you after all he has been through, he'd do it again.

In my opinion it's for extremely lazy people for the most part. While there may be a rare percentage of people how actually 'need' the surgery due to being truly addicted to food (those who have to eat constantly), the mass majority do not need the surgery and need to learn to become healthy rather than a quick fix. I have a huge weight problem? that is I really enjoy eating and my main two jobs at the moment both involve me sitting on my ass for long periods of time. I?m starting to put back on more weight because of that. Does that mean I need to run out and go get this invasive surgery done?
No. It means I have to put my body first and start exercising and cutting back on calorie intake. A few years back I was morbidly obese (weighing close to 400 pounds) and after deciding that I didn?t want to die in my 40?s I cut back on food and started to actually exercise (GASP!). A few years later and I got down to around 250 (which I?m rather happy with). Recently like I said I?ve put on a few extra pounds and I?m working to get rid of it. I?m not about to take the easy way out. Again there are some people out there that have an actual need for the surgery but the percentage has to be rather tiny. Most of the people who are getting it do not NEED it? they need to put down the fork and start exercising. The doctors who are recommending the surgery are the ones that really piss me off. Sure, they will often make them ?try? strict diet plans first but they have already told them about the surgery. What lazy person is actually going to WORK HARD trying to lose the weight when there is a ?magic bullet? out there for them?

I don't want to offend anyone and i appologise for that. I know that in the case that a person is not 100% healthy ,any sugery can be dangerous not only a gastric bypass.
People die from different stupid reasons(simple surgery) unfortunately. I can only think that we do with our hands the life. We choose not somebody else. I know many people in my country that suffer from obesity. And all this because they didn't took care of their look and body back when they were younger. Now they regret ,but this is not healing them I can only learn from this and i am glad because i know that we have one life and one body, if we don't care of our body we will suffer in future from this ignorance. With all the respect, once again i appologise if i offended someone without wanting. Kisses,Elly Jaine.
