In my opinion it's for extremely lazy people for the most part. While there may be a rare percentage of people how actually 'need' the surgery due to being truly addicted to food (those who have to eat constantly), the mass majority do not need the surgery and need to learn to become healthy rather than a quick fix. I have a huge weight problem? that is I really enjoy eating and my main two jobs at the moment both involve me sitting on my ass for long periods of time. I?m starting to put back on more weight because of that. Does that mean I need to run out and go get this invasive surgery done?
No. It means I have to put my body first and start exercising and cutting back on calorie intake. A few years back I was morbidly obese (weighing close to 400 pounds) and after deciding that I didn?t want to die in my 40?s I cut back on food and started to actually exercise (GASP!). A few years later and I got down to around 250 (which I?m rather happy with). Recently like I said I?ve put on a few extra pounds and I?m working to get rid of it. I?m not about to take the easy way out.
Again there are some people out there that have an actual need for the surgery but the percentage has to be rather tiny. Most of the people who are getting it do not NEED it? they need to put down the fork and start exercising. The doctors who are recommending the surgery are the ones that really piss me off. Sure, they will often make them ?try? strict diet plans first but they have already told them about the surgery. What lazy person is actually going to WORK HARD trying to lose the weight when there is a ?magic bullet? out there for them?
