I have heard this more than once and I want to implement it in my life, but when I try, i never wake up at the 15 min mark...maybe I have to set an alarm

yeah i read it too, tried it and it works


if you sleep longer then 15minutes you will fall in the "deep-sleep" phase which is really hard to awake from..
will make you feel all dizzy after it

i always set my alarm and kaboooom here i am

why do you care about scotybuzz?

as for naps, not sure what you mean? do you fall asleep immediately and wake up after 15 mins?

personally it takes me about an hour (EDIT: sometimes half an hour ) to fall asleep unless Im VERY tired or drunk. I think too much.....

I have insomnia very rarely, in that case i cant fall asleep for hours

but just every day, unless Im very tired or drunk, when I go to bed, I cant fall asleep instantly. Never had that ability... Im just lying in bed, thinking about different things etc etc... then after 30 minutes I fall asleep.

30 minutes are not that bad man... i would say i need about 5-10 minutes average.


but a little trick to kill the annoying thoughts in your head while trying to fall asleep: try to imagine yourself lying in the bed.

think about every little detail of your body , e.g like your hands are positioned atm.



i know this sounds really gay but helps

Mine is gayer.

Do deep Yoga breathing, to your stomach, versus chest.

My favorite breathing technique to relax and drift off is the following:

Breathe out all the air in your lungs.

Take a steady deep breath that lasts for 3 seconds. Hold it for 7 seconds, breathe it all out in 8 seconds.

Do this a few times, and you will be relaxed. Enough to go into lala land.

I think powernaps rule. I would dedicate 25-30 minutes total so you can fall asleep. Then when you wake up you'll feel refreshed.

I always listen to something when I go to sleep. Mostly spoken Podcasts. I find I start off listening so I don't get bored and then just drift off. Stops me thinking and keeping me awake.

When I'm tired, a powernap around 6pm is fantastic - 15-20 mins max.
I do it on the sofa, that way I'm sure not to go into deep sleep because the kids will always wake me up very quickly!

I take toooo long to fall asleep, I couldn't pull that off.

The only way I can fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed is when I'm very tired or drunk. And there's no way in hell I could wake up 15 min later in those situations lol.

When I was a kid I would lay in bed for hours before I would fall asleep. I agree with the others that say the only way sleep comes about is when exhaustion is at hand or drunk. If I'm not ready to sleep I don't bother trying anymore. I know that I will just lay there with my head spinning and buzzing about my world. It sucks, but I've learned to live with my insomnia.

My insomina is part of me, part of who I am. I'm ok with that. (that was meant to be corny, but true none the less)

when my day was fully with activities it is easier for me to fall asleep.


i established a time schedule for myself in the past and it works great

sport and fresh air is a great way to have a good sleep in the end.

reminds me of a crazy girl I dated once - get this: first time she comes over, we're falling asleep and sometime in the middle of the night she jumps out of the bed, stands for exactly 1 minute and comes back to bed

at first I thought that she did it in her sleep - turns out she was doing some fuck-knows-what sleeping technique. She told me that she sleeps something like 4-5 hours every 24 hours and didn't feel tired at all, something that I wouldn't try on myself but the truth is that she was like second in her class at the University she was studying at and one of the smartest girls I have ever met

power naps rock, i sleep very short each night (somewhere between 2 and 4 hours) i often end up taking a power nap after dinner, just in my working chair, and it rocks, feel refreshed after it and ready to go on for the rest of the day..

I have power "lounges" on long drives. I can tell I'm not going to make it to wherever I'm going so I find a safe and quiet spot and just lay back. I don't usually fall asleep but 10-15 mins later I'm feeling surprisingly refreshed.

Still on the car thing, Australia runs radio, TV and newspaper ads plus places signs on major highways to encourage people to pull over and have a power nap.

I must try it at home, problem is that I can take a while to get to sleep. I wonder if I could rig something so that it counts 15 mins from when I stop pressing a button.

btw for all the sleeples wanting to hear music when getting to sleep:

i saw a documentary about 2 students in germany who invented a radio connected to a pulse-messure-system.

you have something like a wristband on.


in the beginning the music is on a normal volume and with your pulse getting lower (getting closer to sleep) the volume will decrease and finally power of completly.


they invented it for people with "tinitus" but im sure it would help in some cases here too

No, it's a supplementary nap just to pep you up a bit. You still have your normal sleep.

love it. backfires on me at night sometimes. sleep soundly 20 minutes, then something makes me stir, and i'm awake until 3am.
