My favorite breathing technique to relax and drift off is the following:
Breathe out all the air in your lungs.
Take a steady deep breath that lasts for 3 seconds. Hold it for 7 seconds, breathe it all out in 8 seconds.
Do this a few times, and you will be relaxed. Enough to go into lala land.
