Is it safe or ok to spray air inside computer?
I just opened case to computer, & there's dust everywhere..
Is it safe to blast it with a can of air? How do you clean yours out? |

Absolutely.
I shut it down, open it up, blow air in from a can to loosen things up then vacuum up the mess. Every time I vacuum my office I hit the cracks and openings real quick just to keep the air flowing nicely.

Can of air is made primarily for cleaning computers.
Personally i use a huge industrial air compresser, from a far away distance of course, dust gone in 2 seconds. |

wow there must be a lot then, I air mine out every couple months....that processor fan is constantly sucking in dust bunnies and what not....it in turn sticks mainly to your processor fan/cooler. and over time will slow your fan down and let your chip heat up, it can be the end of some computers.. just odd that youve never noticed or seen the dust inside before....I assume you been doing this a few

Yeah, I also use wireless ones. You can get a cheap Labtec one for like 20 bucks. Not bad at all considering not a single one has failed, although I use them for short periods of times.

I use a yard blower. Just don't get too close. I also open up the power supply and blow that out.

if you know a little about computers you better take the fan off the heatsink on the cpu since due to the amount of time the dust has had to settle it will be sticky so air will not remove it. You will have to manually clean it. Especially if you're a smoker this will be required.

i take mine out in the driveway remove the side panel and blow it out with my air compressor. a leaf blower works also.
been doing it forever with no problems the PC case is flawed from the get go, it's basically a vacuum cleaner or room air purifier with no filter. They should have a cleanable filter, the insides would stay cleaner longer. ![]() |

Totally, I would be aware of the pressure and the distance at which you are blowing from.

1) Take the PC outside.
2) Blow with your vacuum cleaner. Compressors may have too much power and larger ones can spread oil and water |

You said really dusty. A garden hose would work better. If you smoke, then a power washer. Don't forget inside the power supply.
The dishwasher does a fairly good job on a keyboard. That mouse is the tricky one. If you have to ask the question, maybe it would be better to take the PC into the Geek Squad and let them do it right. |
