Just curious who has one. I do. I've only had to draw once, but I didn't shoot the person. I carry pretty much all the time.

I do
very easy to get in Nevada. If you take the class out here, you can automatically get one for Florida and Utah. Why Utah? Because their permit will allow you to carry in a bunch of other states. Same as Florida. It's a nice little perk. Sucks that you cannot carry in CA no matter what. That's where you would need it the most!

http://www.packing.org/state/florida/ is a good start if you're looking to carry in Florida. Any local armory that holds safety classes should be able to answer questions also, but be sure that you understand all the legal issues involved in carrying (where you can and cannot carry, for instance).
Also, if you are going to carry, be sure to get training. Shooting paper targets is not the same thing as a good "force on force" class. Suarez International has some great classes. http://www.uspsa.org/ is another great place to practice shooting... -- Bill

in NY it's very hard to get one in NYC unless your in law enforcement (or retired ) .. or if you have good reason .. like you do bank drops for your biz .. on the Island it's a bit easier but still a 2 month process ... they look really hard to find a reason not to give it to you. I just keep a pistol grip shot gun close by .. it's legal to have and only takes a day or so to get ..
Pete lives in Michigan and he has a carry permit ... but i think it's just a 7 day process there with a small course ... Yes I know Pete-Kt running around with a gun is scary ...lol |

Here you are allowed to keep one in your car as your car is considered part of your property to defend... Getting a carry license requires residency though and can be quite a process

I did when I lived in PA, havent got around to getting it here in TN. Its a bit more of a hassle down here. A course and fee etc. In PA it was just a 35.00 fee and 10 day waiting period. lol

The gun permit in PA was $17 up until about last year when they stopped issuing paper permits and went to a card (similar to a drivers license) and now they cost $40 to get.
PA is probably one of the easiest places to get one, and it's good for five years (i think, mine is anyway). |

georgia honors a license from: alabama, alaska, colorado, florida, idaho, indiana, kentucky, louisiana, michigan, mississippi, missouri, montana, new hampshire, north carolina, oklahoma, pennsylvania, south dakota, tennessee, texas, utah, and wyoming. (so long as you live in the state the license is from. if you live in georgia you must have a georgia ccl)
a georgia license is good in all the states above plus arizona and vermont you can conceal a firearm without a permit in any home or business you own, rent or lease you can open carry a handgun without a permit in any home or business you own, rent or lease

Yeah, I paid my $17 a few days after I turned 21 and had it within a week or so. I did have to put two referrals down on the application, but neither of them received calls.

I've had one since 2000. I was selling various products to shady peeps, so I felt the need to protect myself. Now, I just leave the .40 on the nightstand just in case.

I have ccw in all states... before I tested to get my "peace officer" permit I was only allowed to carry in 29 states... I know alot about ccw's if anyone has any questions.. I am also NRA and state certified to give CCW classes and issue the papers that allow you to get your ccw...

Contrary to popular belief, CCW permits are in fact issued within the State of California. The decision is made by appointed city law enforcement or elected county law enforcement. Cities generally defer the decision to the County Sheriff; therefore, the chance of issuance varies from county to county, and from elected Sheriff to elected Sheriff. Keep that in mind when you vote. The most recent records released by the California Department of Justice (2003) indicate that there are a total of 45,120 current CCW permits within the state. Individual counties are listed below in the locality section. Documents Needed: * Completed Application. * Training Certificate * Psychological Test may be required (Depends on Jurisdiction.) Training Required PC section 12050(a)(1)(B) and (E) specifies that new license applicants must complete a course of training. The training may consist of any course acceptable to the licensing authority. The licensing authority may require either a course not to exceed 16 hours which includes instruction on at least firearms safety and the law regarding the permissible use of a firearm or a community college course not to exceed 24 hours certified by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. If the licensing authority requires the community college course, it must be uniformly required for all CCW license applicants. The licensing authority may also require annual qualification on the weapon(s) during the term for which the CCW license is granted. For license renewal applicants, the course of training may be any course acceptable to the licensing authority, shall be no less than four hours in length, and shall include instruction on at least firearm safety and the law regarding permissible use of a firearm. the length before you have to renew is as followed Standard (Civilian) - Two (2) years Judicial - Three (3) years Reserve/Custodial (LEO) - Four (4) years Employee (temporary, non-county resident) - Ninety (90) days I have the reserve/custodial for cali so I am good until 2010 for cali then I have to renew again

wow, you guys really need a gun to make you feel safe? To keep it at home or office just in case, might be a good idea, but to carry it around all the time seems like too much...

I carry one, and its not about feeling safe. Its about not wanting anything to do with other peoples lamness. I actually had to pull mine once at a stop light. SOme coke addict came up to my windows and was treating me like he knew me and tried to con money out of me. When i told him that i didnt know him, he opened my door, and thats when he met the barrel of my glock. He closed the door himself and walked away. I drove on.
I could have kicked his ass, maybe, but whos got time to spend on that? |

I've carried a shotgun in my truck since I was 18 and back in the US and a pistol concealed since the day I turned 21. I had a NC CWL first, then a GA CWL until I moved down here about a year ago.
Any American who knows how to shoot or wants to learn how should learn and then carry. More guns = less crime. |

I have a FL issued CCW, and I think that now most of the other 32 right to carry states all have reciprocity with each other, with a few exceptions, of course.
