I've just stood up a bottle of 87 mouton and a 98 Sperss

to serve with a 4 bone prime rib for dinner with friends.
We'll start with a couple bottles of lesser stuff before dinner (probably 2bottles each of '01 Heitz and '02 Worthy)
For desert we'll have some creme brule with a bottle of Tokaji Aszú 5 puttonyos and perfectly made french press coffee.

Should be a good night.

I thought it was best to serve the good stuff first since people's taste buds get messed up after a few glasses of the lesser.

At least that is what I learned at bible study.

tokaji is nice - I like sweet wines

Wouldnt you go with something spicier then the Mouton Cadet with ribs? I mean its not bad but I like spicy wine, more Merlot in it.

incorrect.
when Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding, the guests all commented on how cool it was to server the better wine last.

Anyway, I prefer to drink the best stuff with dinner, not before.
Sometimes we'll start with Martinis but I expect this night to be a long one so wine only.

I wouldn't eat ribs at a dinner party. Too messy. but yeah, you could go with something a bit bigger like a cali cab.

I wanted to buy some fresh foie gras for an appetizer but you need 36 hour lead time. I threw this together late last night so I couldn't pull it off.

just as well, between prime rib and foie gras, it would probably stop my heart before desert.

I love ribs, never eat them cause its a pain, its messy you cant properly talk at a table with ppl eating them plus its kinda considered junkfood here.

This is what you got right?

after the tokaji we almost broke out some 1865 port. Would that bring you out?

Sadly, the 87 mouton was corked and all I had ready at room temp. as a substitute was a young 97 mouton. The situation kinda sucked but we managed.
I fell asleep on the patio and woke up all duey. of course, the meat was fucking outstanding.

Here in south, our favorite redneck Louis Grizzard said "It ain't a BBQ unless you have be hosed down aftwards." We love our trashy junkfood ribs here. Hell, I've had them served right next to filet mignon, lobster tails and crab legs at an upscaled catered BBQ And here in the south DO NOT user the word "BBQd" with the word "beef" - it must be pork. Babyback ribs are personally the only kind I make. I roast them in the oven first then put them on a charcoal grill (hardwood charcoal only - not that crap you buy in the grocery store) with some BBQ sauce.

I've also seen people eat them with a fork and knife, lol. I mean c'mon........

Damn, now I want ribs and my grill is sitting out in the yard covered in plastic while they work on my house

Come down to my house - if you're not dripping in BBQ sauce, you're not eating real BBQ Don't worry, we'll hose you down

No knives allowed. Forks are OK for potato salad, baked beans and cole slaw

In the interest of helping you, I'd warn you to not take Serge's name in vain. YOU mght not know your mom's address but Serge is sure to find out. It would be nothing but trouble for you.
Please, don't do it.

Is his mom worth fucking and posting on Hun? I'd feel much better if I cut his little pippy with a rusty scissors.
