yah as pointed out its a tossup , we need more info. where was the cat hit . what wre the circumstances.. poor girl was prob freaked out.. cats and roads dont mix.. unless she was on the sidewalk , then cars and sidewalks dont mix..

it does suck.. i ran over a friends dog before , cost me $1400 . i could have just said "no" but i felt bad so i paid for it.. even though it wasn't really my fault.. i did it more because he prob didnt have the money to fix it and the dog would have had to have been put down without surgery..

I would say if you sue you will only waste your money. In most states if your animal is out in the street and get hit there is nothing you can do about it. If you have a big dog that is out in the street, it gets hit and damages a car the driver can sue you for having your animal in the street.

If it were me I would tell her about it and make sure she knows then keep the cat inside.

its partially your fault, but she hit your cat and didnt even bother to stop. i would report it to the police at least. she probably was speeding. i dont know about you guys but when i go thru residential neighborhoods i got 15-25 just because of little kids. if a cat ran out in front of me i would at least be able to almost stop if not completely stop before hitting it.

If the cat was on your front yard and she jumped the curb and hit your cat then confront her and expect her to cover the medical expenses.

If it was on the road or in her driveway, give your mom shit for not having the cat restrained and make her pay the vet bills because it would be her fault the cat was hit.

Most places have laws if you hit ananimal you have to stop. Not knowing you hit the cat does not work as a defense for this. Even if the cat was in the street and the neighbour's daughter was speeding the neighbour's daughter is again in the wrong. You have witnesses, go to the neighbor and ask them to pay the vet bill. If they do not offer to pay the bill sue them for the money. Their insurance should cover it.
