Personal Trainer marketing?
Hey guys,
Got a weird question, any help would be appreciated. I have a friend who is a personal trainer and needs to market himself. What ways could he do this? I've been in adult so long i've forgotten how to market mainstream, heh. |

He should offer 2 sessions free ... that's how my guy locked me in. Plus people always want to make sure they like a trainer before they start with them.
Also i would suggest if he is a good writer he should offer to write a training column for local papers and offer it up to locally targeted websites. That way he can advertise his services for free. Have brochures printed up and left in local health orientated stores ... i will think of more i am sure ... xoxo, Megan |

Hit google adwords with keywords such as "deca", "winstrol", and "hgh"...& display them by state.

For the offline part, I assume the best thing to do is promote the very same blog, as it's easy to kick in a FAQ there and thus eliminate some of the hassle with haggling clients. So print some posters and put them up around the neighbourhood, also get some business cards which can be handed out in various places, such as beauty parlour, spas and whatnot. Do make sure there's a phone number on both business cards and posters though, so even Internet retards can make contact. I'd advise a cell phone #, as you don't want everyone calling your home #, plus a cell can be turned off. Feel free to ICQ me if you wanna brainstorm more.

Tell him to buy a bright colored hummer, plaster it with advertising on every window and panel and park it right by the entrance to the gym 24/7. At least that's what I see at LVAC or 24hourFitness.
This is to upsell the fatties who are already at the gym but aren't losing shit on their own because they still drink 30 beers on the weekends so they need a trainer to remind them that taking in less calories than you burn equals weight loss . |

as someone very close to the fitness industry - i can say that there is no easy way. its not about marketing a service, as much as it is about marketing a person and personality. that is ALWAYS best done in person and face to face. the best and most effective way is the most unethical probably. get a few gym memberships... be there, same days, same times all the time... see the same people all the time. get to know know them and slowly build by meeting people from gyms. there really is no easy answer to this question... if he is personable and can get out, meet people and impress people with his knowledge and personality and attitude DIRECTLY, then business will come fairly easily. if he can get people good results (which is largely a question of being careful which clients are accepted) then referral business comes very easy. the best place to do that that i have seen is in a gym with a huge number of members. ... but any gym will kick him out for trying to find clients there. and i am not saying its the right thing to do... but just because you are asking this question, it has already been realized that this is a bigger problem that it would seem. |
