Buy a Mac and dont look back.

I dont feel like talking too much about it, all I can say is I have 2 PCs and since I got my Powermac, my main PC is only used to play mp3 and movies.

We have multiple macs in here (mini, few ibooks and a powerbook g4), and when they work, they work great. However I had an issue with the powerbook the other day when the airport card had an issue, causing kernel panics whenever you tried to boot. After several hours of trying to diagnose the issue, I found a way to disable the drivers for the airport, which made the Mac boot fine, but no wireless

Getting the wireless card out is a big issue, and probably will require taking it to a mac store. Their prices are quite steep for simple maintenence so if something happens to your Mac, be prepared to spend some $ getting it fixed.

With a PC, there's usually at least one nerd in the office who can fix it.

Which operating system do you know how to operate best? That's the only question that matters because they are now the same performance wise. Whatever you know best then buy.

i thought that Macs are better for graphics - not sure if that is right.
I use PC - don't know if Mac is better.
We had designers in our newspaper, they worked on Macs. I liked the way the mashenes looked like. That is it.

PC's are junk, that is why they are so fucking cheap. I have had a MAC Quadra 840 AV, a Mac G3, A Mac G4, A Mac G5, and a Mac Powerbook. None of them EVER had to be taken in to get fixed, not once. The only time they ever crashed was when System 9 was on it, that shit was crap.

I have also had computers ALL my life, my first computer was a HeathKit that my father and I built he was/is a computer engineer, and we have also had a PC since they came out (whatever was before the 286 A-something I forget, 286, 386, 486, Pentiums). Also had a commodore 64 and 128.

I have used Corel Draw 1 thru 8, Illustrator 4 - 10, Photoshop 2 thru CS2, Every Version of Flash, Director 6, 7, 8, MX. Premeire 4 - 6, After Affects 4, 5, 6, Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver 4 - MX, BBedit, Quicken, Quickbooks, Mircrosoft Office... blah blah blah I have been doing this a long time.

Out of ALL of my computers, Mac has been the best I have worked with, hands down. The only computer that I have ever come across that even compared to a Mac and was actually better at the time, was a Silicone Graphics.

The saying "Macs are for designers" is so fucking stupid. That is soooo old, the reason they WERE for designers is because Macs had a larger and more accurate system color palette than PC's had. So printing was more accurate to what you saw on your monitors.

Also the "Nothing is compatible with Mac" is pure 100% crap, or the old "can't open Mac files"... well if you were too stupid to type the file extension so you could open it on a PC, that's was your problem.

You get a better built, a more stable, and better looking computer when you buy a Mac. Now with the Mac Book Pro and it's ability to BOOT UP in Windows XP or OS X, I can not think of any reason why anyone would buy a PC other than they can't afford a Mac, and that's a pretty good reason, not everyone can afford the best.

Take it from me, a person who has actually probably used every fucking type of computer there is, do yourself a favor and buy a Mac, it will be the best decision you made. I can't think of one reason to buy a PC other than they're cheap.

Call me bi...But I use both PC and Mac's daily. PC is mainly work, Mac is more for personal use, but I prefer working on the Mac whenever I have the option. It's like driving a mercedes versus a ford focus...Macs rule. I just got the last edition iBook that is fast as hell, but if you have the funds go mac book pro with the dual boot so you can run both OS's until you are comfortable using OSX. Get one, it will put the motivation back in your step and inspire you all over again to get excited about computers and work.

Also the mac OS is so userfriendly you have to be a retard to not be able to figure it out when learning. Control = Apple key. The rest is common sense.

Unless you need some specialy software, the mac is really the way to go. I use both a Mac and a PC and the Mac OS is faster and much more stable with no viruses and an easier to use interface that is extremely intuitive.

see that's just the problem, it's so userfriendly that it keeps you at the retard level, if I have to drag to the bin just to delete something once more in my life, I'll go on a killing spree.

MAC really is a single task computer, if you're like me and you're doing 15 things at the same time with 10 programs open, then pc is faster, because the control of the OS is much more open

+ when mac crashes, it realy crashes, last time I had to pull the plug on an $200.000 editing station, because the reset button didn't cut power to the MAC.

I love messing around with my OS and customizing everything, so Mac OS really isn't anything for me

HA HA HA Single task my ass, you don't even know how to use the trash, I seriously doubt you can run 10 programs at once. Right now I am compressing video in Cleaner 6.5, retouching photos in Photoshop, Building galleries in Sitedepth, Listening to iTunes, and typing on here.

And what OS are you using 8.6??? My Mac hasn't hard crashed in over 2 years. Again, learn how to use it... you have to HOLD the button in for a few seconds.

LOL, you are the poster child for not know anything about Macs... I seriously recommend you never buy one, and if you already have, I recommend you put it back in the box, take it to the Apple Store, ask for your money back, and tell them you are too stupid to use it. Just show them how you use the trash and they'll completely understand.

I recommend that you go to the Apple Store if there is one near you. Not only will you have tons of fun playing with all the cool toys, they can help you find the computer you need. Be sure to go upstairs and see if there are any free classes going on, and you will see how fucking cool the programs really are.

Drag something to bin? try AppleKey + Delete
Learn the os. then talk.
Single task? What year are you in? 1985?
Do you even know it's on a Unix shell?
As for crashing I've been running my machine HARD 24/7 for years and since OSX i haven't had to force quit or have crashed yet.
wake up and realize the dream Mac's rule!

Jesus, no wonder you guys are so PC biased, you don't even take the time to read simple freaking information.

Exactly what part of "Runs Windows XP" are you guys have the most fucking trouble with? It seems like a pretty straight forward statement.

Mac can do E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G a PC running Windows XP can do... Why? How? Cuz it also can run Windows XP... It's the SAME... only better.

The World is not flat... I repeat, the World is not Flat.

Hey, you started getting personal, why is it MAC people always are so protective about their computer?

haven't used the latest edition, last one was 1,5 years old, still had the same faults as those from 7 years ago

Photoshop, Dreamweaver, ripping or splitting DVD, acdsee, winamp, thumbnail maker, MSN, ICQ and about 7 internet explorer windows

I don't own a mac, sometimes have to use them at other people's places, was a TV production house (show was Temptation Island).
DIDN'T work holding the button in for a few second, the reset was still software connected, there wasn't a power breaker in it.

again so personal
on that account: you must be stupid computerwise, seriously: have you ever heard a nerd talking about how great their MAC is ????

NEVER, they're on pc running linux 99% of the time

seriously some of friends have post grads in AI and micro electronics, they design computer chips: THEY NEVER USE MAC and there's a reason for that

oh, btw eventhough I'm nothing like my friends, I can assemble a standard pc in 30 minutes, have you ever put a computer together ??? Or modified it?

wanted to add: you probably just go to a store and buy whatever is in promotion, off course you'll walk out for shit

why are standard MACs better hardware wise, because they don't have cheaper versions, but you already pay for it
that said, if you want something more, the prices of mac really skyrocket, it's insane
for the higher end pc systems: you can get better quality and more for half the price of a higher end mac, off course then you don't have the mac-experience or the mac-design

EXACTLY!!! There's the difference right there, I own both, and have owned and used both since they were both created and every version since... I speak from experience while you just speak from your ass.

Uh, ya, the first computer I ever owned was a Heathkit... built from scratch, where you had to solder all the boards individually.

Assembling a PC isnt' hard... but go ahead and pat yourself on the back if you must. Doing a jigsaw puzzle is harder than putting together a PC.

again so agressive, calm down, why so frustrated over a computer, over politics I get, but over a computer

this is the difference:

some mac users think their computer is their sweetheart and have to protect it at all cost
pc users just use the damn thing and haven't a problem criticizing it, well we actually love dumping on windows 98 was the worst thing ever

again haven't seen the models from the past year, but before that MAC didn't always want to delete stuff using the delete button, that's probably why everyone I know that uses mac, drags stuff to the bin, it's painful to see

and these are your average users !!! that means something is going wrong

no, but your stab was stupid and incorrect

I mean, if you're talking about those out of the box pc you buy at your supermarket, then I agree (like I already said before)
but if you build it up yourself or you ask for the right stuff you have a Mercedes and not a Datsun
