The new Intel based Macs have some major issues running the old PPC software...Programs such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver are very slow.

I have both the 1.5 G4 Mini and the New Core Duo Mini and while the Intels are generally much faster they absolutely blow at running software that has not been updated for the new CPU's.

The move to Intel is a step in the right direction as Macs are horribly underpowered. My 3.4 ghz P4EE desktop is faster than a Quad G5...I've used them side by side. The new Core Duo macs are nice and fast but these are still only laptop CPU's and Apple has to make a machine with some real power.

That said I like OSX and I use my Mac for Ipod, Bit Torrent and Burning DVD's etc. For other work including video and photoshop I gravitate to the PC.

Has anyone ever heard of virtual pc (since 1999 mac has been able to run windows as an application)? Am I taking crazy pills here?
Compatability is not the issue. Preference is.
The only way to know, for yourself and your personal or professional use, is to try it out, take the time to be OPEN, LEARN, and see COMPUTERS in an new enlightening light. They can do things you are not used to. Grasp it, don't fight it. The future is beautiful.

Only then can you truly appreciate a Mac

I prefer to run Windows applications on Windows, emulators just don't cut it.

That's what the dual boot is about nowadays I agree with you, however the best of both worlds now exists. It's the same chip (as windows), but the OS is CHOOSABLE and all around, the package is so much sweeter and better looking (onscreen and off). We all have engines in our cars, but what would you want to drive...you pay for what you get. I'm excited as to what the future has to offer with this technology.

Major issues?

I've been using both on my MacBook Pro with 2GB ram and it just works. Sure it's not as fast as it can be, but that's for a reason. But it definitely works.

Just came back from the Apple Store and they don't have the 17" Intel laptop in yet, as soon as they do I am a buyer. My 17" Powerbook has gone three years of 7x24 operations and 90 minutes on a bicycle daily. My last Dell died three times in two years.

With the new software from Parallel http://www.parallels.com/ the issue of legacy Windows apps is resolved without dual boot. OSX is BSD rock solid and less grief than any XP computer I have seen. My goal is work not tinkering with software.

No antivirus software, No anti spyware software, no defragging; much better experience all the way.

It seems that all the people that say things like 'mac is hard to work with as far as i know' haven't actually used one. If you haven't used a mac how about piping down?

Yet all the people who use macs seemed to have moved over from Windows. So who's in the better position to compare? :-)

Mac & PCs do the exact same thing. The difference IMO is that the mac does everything the PC can do only better, faster and with much more style.

It's a common misconception that shareware or software is hard to come by for macs. The mac shareware scene is simply buzzin'. So many cool apps that you just don't see on Windows.

I dunno about anyone else but I can't remember when was the last time I walked into a store and bought software off the shelf? Thousands of mac apps on the net.

Another misconception is that macs are better for photoshop and graphics. This is just not true. How exactly is that true? PC caught up to macs for graphic artists about 5 years ago. All this 'only buy a mac if you're a photoshop user' is just total BS.

Video Editing is another matter, PC users don't get Final Cut Pro.

And what's all this about files not working with macs? everything is the same, if you have Word on the mac it will open word files made on the PC. That's the same with basically everything. I have my PCs and Macs networked sharing files with a single issue.

If you try to open a file made with a PC specific app that doesn't exist on the mac then you're retarded.

More and more people are moving to OS X, and it's not hard to see why.

I agree. Windows is a joke compared to the Maciontosh operating system.
