what stereotype is the worst phone customer service?

i'll keep this poll anonimous to protect the innocent. all i know is that i am tired of not being able to get answers by phone when i call a credit card or a retailer, etc...

does anyone speak any english anymore?

The worst are fuckin Providian!!!!

I so wanna yell in the phone "Learn to speak english dammit". I usually just totally lose it after I have repeated myself for the third time and if they try to upsell me anything... WHICH THEY ALWAYS DO... I just hang up.

I hate feeling like a bitch for doing it but I can't help it, I get so frustrated. I have done customer service before and did my best to be the OPPOSITE of the people that annoyed me the most. It always worked.

But yea... seriously... fuckin companies.. get people that speak english. This is ridiculous!

indian/pakistani reading a script - I get maybe 20% of the time

angry black woman - I don't get very often, but recently I got hung up on twice by angry black women at capital one busines, and I was being nice, they were just dumb.

automated robot that makes you yell your options - This is what I get 80% of the time probably.

All 3 are very common imho

Dell tech support. For the extra $359/PC for onsite service I buy, you can afford to put whitey on the phone. Not to sound racist, but goddamit I need someone who speaks English, not Pakienglish.

I'll be real specific: Indian women with very thick accents. Indian men I can usually understand, however for some reason their language tends to be pronounced in a much higher pitch than most other languages I've heard. When some of the women from that region start talking it begins to resemble more like near-ultrasonic chirping noises than recognizable human speech to me.

If the above sounds like it could be a problem to anyone, I don't reccomend calling the HP support #'s LOL.

What always cracked me up when I worked as a call centre rep awhile back was when a southern redneck would call up and rant a solid 5 mins. about "those goddam fuckin' indians and packies" and how all the jobs were being outsourced over to India.

I'd be here in Canada listening to all this ignorant venom (with my mute button pressed and my feet up on the desk)...while carrying on a conversation with the co-worker in the cubicle next to me - Ahmed.

Then sometimes, just for fun...I'd intentionally escalate the call with a few choice comments - to the point the customer would ask to speak with a supervisor or manager.

I'd transfer him over to Ahmed.

Yes, its a little hard getting onsite service when my call is going to Pakistan. I don't need this guy going through the script when I know I have a hard disk failure. Get the manager on the phone (in North America) and get him to get authorize a service call, that's all I'm looking for. I don't need to make sure the power is on and shit like that. Crazy the frustration customers have to go through for Dell to save a few bucks.

Why is they want to hang up the minute you use colorful language. It's just an indicator of how frustrated they have made you. I actually had a angry black bitch from Sprint tell me "Don't you fucking use that language with me" and I was like "you said fucking" and she hung up on me.

Yeah, every time I call GE Money (or they call me) I end up speaking to someone with a fairly thick Indian accent. They are generally reasonably easy to understand but occasionally they have no idea what I'm saying (aussiespeak?) and I have to rephrase the sentence.
