Online IQ tests

I'm trying to find a relatively accurate online IQ test, does anyone have recommendations?

There are many online - I think the better online IQ test you have to pay for. What is the point - it is just a number. When I test, I range from 145 to 162. It is meaningless, I do not earn more money because it is higher than average, nor can I spell any better. My biz partner charts nearly off the chart - he does our programimg. He spells like shit too and his social skill suck.

Honestly - IQ scores are meaningless.

Idiot... there are 3 main testing standards, and they are scored on different scales.

I find it hard to believe that someone who scored 142 to 162 thinks IQ has anything to do with spelling... lol Not too many spelling questions on any IQ test I have taken... LMAO!

You have to look at the test results individually. Each test has a different numbering system. A score of 139 on one test may well be the equivalence of a 155 on another test.

A more accurate way of evaluating your score would be to look at the scoring percentile (what percentage of people you scored higher than) for each individual test.

Also each test has a standard deviation of around 15 points. A person that scores a 130 may well be just as smart as somebody that scores a 145. This allows for cultural/social differences.

You are correct and of course and IQ's are important as ones IQ level dictates the limit of ones ability to learn and to understand. If you use the analogy of a pint container, a quart container, a half gallon container, and a gallon container, one can easily see that a pint container is limited to the amount that it can hold. It is the same with the brain. A lower IQ is limited in its ablility to hold/learn and to understand. In one of the tests that you speak of 140 is genius level and on another 160 is genius level. On one 90 is average and on another 100 is average. When I tested while at University my IQ was 130 on the test that as 90 as average and 140 as genius level, but I am older now and IQ level normally decreases with age.

Sorry to say it, but pretty much everything you said in this post is bullshit.

First and foremost, IQ has rather little to do with what your brain will hold - long term memory. Instead, it focuses on things such as logical thinking, spatial thinking, linguistic insight, etc. In fact, most IQ tests don't even test short term memory. What your brain "will hold" would be best tested by having you follow a university course in some subject, and testing you on it a few years later. Obviously, IQ tests don't do this. They don't test what your brain will hold, but what it can compute.

Secondly, if you took an IQ test on which the average result was 90, it wasn't an IQ test. By definition, IQ tests are scored so that the average comes out as 100. There are variations in the standard deviation though, which is most often 15, but sometimes 16, 24 or 25.

IQ tests measures your intelligence, intelligence is the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations, the more intelligent you are the more skilled you are with the use of reason. It does not measure with the amount of information your brain can hold, that is a Memory Test.

Also, average IQ is ALWAYS 100... no matter what test you take, how far below and above 100 is what differs between the tests.

IQ tests don't measure "your full potential". They measure your talent for taking IQ tests.

Human potential depends on many factors, including originality of thought, social skills, determination, self-discipline, etc., as well as intelligence in the broad sense of the word (which includes the ability to integrate the small computations tested in IQ tests in a broader context).

That said even given the falibility of a 'real' IQ test online ones are 50x worse. I have yet to see someone score below 120 on an online IQ test, ever.

BTW: You may be correct about the mean of the test being 100. It may be that when I took the test the average of the testers was 90 but it has been to many years ago to recall with certainty.

You're indeed wrong. The "standard" standard deviation is 15, although some tests use different standard deviations.

As for online tests, you are mostly correct. However, the internet itself works as a filter for the stupid, raising the average iq of internet users above that of the general population, and many people just flat-out lie.
