Ikea meatballs

A culinary wonder of the modern world. I was dragged to Ikea today which is really the last place I would want to be on a Saturday. I thought the point of working from home was that I didn't have to be at places like that when they were the most busy. However, it was made up to me by meatballs. I still have no idea why they are so much better than any other meatball I have had. Though I do think this is a consipracy that whenever I go to my Ikea the lingonberry drink fountain is empty.

Those things are great! Been fighting the urge to buy their bag of frozen ones to make at home. They probably won't be as good.

The meatballs at IKEA aren't that good, atleast not in Sweden...

You should try "Surströmming" instead!

I'm vegetarian, and I even have to nab a few meatballs when the dreaded Ikea trip comes around.

I must confess I love Swedish Meatballs and blondes too. Ikea meatballs are a great fast food replacement; never found a replacement for the blondes.

They have to have the gravy and jam to really work! But then that gravy makes other meatballs good too.

The meatballs at IKEA are the bomb when you are "not in Sweden". I get them every time (like once a year) when I go to IKEA here in Los Angeles - love them.

Other than for those, fuck Sweden.

I don't know any Swedish people here that could cook them for me so I couldn't say but I have had meatballs of various nationalities that were home made and these are still the best. I am sure they don't compare to the original thing or are too different to be called authentic but to those of us that don't know any better they are like culinary crack.

The fact that you probably didn't want to be there and were starving maybe made then better than what they actually were?

Ikea meatballs and the hotdogs have been an institution in the UK for years now, and great to take your mind off the "shitznitz" food trays and "boglicka" kitchen sets.

500 g meat (mixed flesh/ox, it gets more tastier then, otherwise use just ox)
1 onion well hacked
1 egg
2 cooked potatoes or potato meal
salt'n'pepper
Milk (or water)

Just mix it together and let it stand for bout 20 minutes and then make the meatballs, use water on your hands, they get smoother then, fry them on high/mid level in 5 minutes....

DONE !!!

ps. its exactly the same for meatloaf....

put some worchestershire sauce in with them next time (keeps them moist inside).

cook the meatballs 1/2 way then add them to the sauce and let them finish. They will be great.

Their hotdogs are the only decent hotdogs you can get anywhere in the UK.

I love ikea, I can't help but spend hours in there each time I go, there is so much to buy in there, it never ends. Yes their meatballs are insane! Their hotdogs are unique too, they are like sweet on the outside, I think they glaze them with some sort of a light syrup, who knows..

I think I am going to pass by today, I need a few things.

Aahhh, do as i suggest, just half/half of meat/ox, then they're getting much better....btw. IKEA's meatballs are worse than pizza, but i suppose they are better abroad, since Ingvar Kamprad (IKEAS founder) has moved his fortune to the Netherlands. We in Sweden cannot expect anything but the worst
