Harper will NOT eat your babies or give you AIDS

Liberal propoganda. Scare you into voting for them. Liberals are going to continue to fuck this country.

Vote Conservative.

NDP = throwaway socialist vote (they want to make everything free. especially for crack heads and lazy pieces of welfare shit)
BQ = Seperatists
Liberals = Liars, cheaters and Broker party bullshit (ie feed both sides what they want to hear, and yet NEVER solve ANY problems)

This Liberal party member has seen the error in his ways. Until the Libs change their opinion of the country and its voters, they will never see another vote from me. The way they treat elections is just sad.

I'm always surprised when I hear that self employed people want higher taxes, less benefits for business owners, and more social services for criminals and drug addicts.

I voted conservative. I'm not anti-gay, i'm not pro-war, however i'm sick of this socialist state where we pay high taxes for nothing, just to make those on welfare comfortable. Fuck them.

Live on the street? Get the fuck off my streets you bum.
Can't feed your children? Well you should've thought of that before he fucked you bareback.

Blamo. It really is this simple. But Canadians are borederline retarded and can't see the black and white in most issues.

I'm also excited to see what the Conservatives do with Native land claim issues. I'd like to see a hearty "FUCK OFF" as opposed to years of negotiation.
You lost the war you lazy drunk pieces of shit, now get to work. You have no more excuses, you've had 125 years to adapt to our way of life.

It's what happens when the young take a year of polisci and see how the country works. It's pretty sad. If you posed a simple yes or no to the average Canadian:

Should we give land/money to indians because they couldn't defend their own land 200 years ago?

I really wonder how many people would be willing to just hand it all over.

I don't support the current healthcare system. My sister had an anxiety attack that left her temporarily paralyzed this weekend. Took her to ER, she had to wait 3 hours before a doctor even LOOKED at her. So why can't we have an "expidited" line. My parents would have signed over some cash to put her in front of the crack heads, battered women and old people who have nothing better to do than go to the hospital when they are bored.

The country is falling apart, and RADICAL reforms need to take place.

None of them are good choices any which way you try to spin it.

Usually one is better than the other... usually one is really really bad... usually.. usually the gray's have a little shading to them... but this election?

It's one big mess of a gray cloud and you gotta just aim in the dark and hope you made the best choice out the really really bad choices.

The biggest joy tonight will be watching that douchebag Stronach hopefully go down in defeat. She deserves to crash 'n burn. I hope voters in her riding give her the bum's rush outta office.

Well we know which will ruin it the MOST. NDP and BQ. So that leaves you two choices: Liberals or Conservatives. Now consider the track record of lies and deceit and INACTION the last 13 years. The deterioration of relations with our LARGEST trading partner. I really could go on, but there's plenty of material out there by guys with Doctorates in Political Science regarding the same major underlying problems with the liberals.

When you weigh EVERY option and look at the platforms and track records of each party you really need to consider this being the time to make a change.

Harper is not a Bush clone. The middle wing is trying to grasp EVERY SINGLE vote it can from the left and the right. Think about it, how can you be left AND right at the same time? You can't. The entire liberal platform is a lie.

Yeah.. like those are the only issues worth voting for....? You think people like you dont regret voting the Bush administration in? Want to get rapped again with more free trade agreements with the Americas only serving the US interests?? Remember Mulroney? Bush's senior best bud...?

Liberals can run an economy... Conservatives have run it to the ground a couple of times...

I dont get it giys, How come everyone thinks that BQ is separatist? It isnt so, they don't want Quebec to separate (if they did they would run for the provincial gouvernement). You only think that they are because of their name. What tehy are realy for is the Protection of the french language along side other reforms that have absolutely nothing to do with Quebec. So My vote goes to BQ. Yes I am a socialist, I dont care that much that I am taxed 47%. But atleast I know that I have all those social services (even tho most of them I might never use), just in case that I might need them. And yes I happend to care about the poor and the homeless, they need our help to. Only Ignorent people who think of themselfs will vote Conservative, that will make the gap between rich and poor even larger.

Shhh.. BradM do we really want to have the americans know where Canada is located much less get involved in our political discussions? They still think we are a state of theirs - so any discussion that sounds like we have our own government will be cause for alarm and someone will report us to Homeland Security

Everytime I get tired of listening to those misguided Americans, I go for a walk around the Brock Monument here in Niagara. Puts it all back into perspective again for me.

Thanks Shemp for clearing up some Canadian history there....I'd also like to add that Canadian Natives did NOT go to war against the colonization nations --the history of Canadian and American Natives is different in that way. They aided both the English and French in their fights against each other. But they never went to War against the colonization nations.

After that Canada institutionalized the Reserve Act and the Residential School Acts. The Reserve Act effectively made Natives prisoner to small areas of land, made it illegal for them to leave their Reserves without permission from the Indian Reserve Agents, made it illegal to sell their livestock or goods. Entire tribes were wiped out by TB, but those people weren't allowed to get medical care. In fact, often the colonizers were responsible for that by handing out blankets infested with turberculosis all in the name of 'helping' them.

The Residential School System allowed Native children to be taken from their home often hundreds of miles away -- they were placed in residential schools run by the Catholics and Protestants. Physical and sexual abuse was rampant - and more often then not those kids were never taught a damn thing that would help them in the 'real world'. The Residential School Act wasn't repealed until the late '60s or early '70s. Canada's history with its Aboriginal peoples isn't one to be proud of - it was one of cultural genocide.

It isn't the history you'll see taught in most of the books in academe -- I'd have to dig up my thesis but I've got some excellent references if anyone's interested.

Well, I was raised to be highly interested in politics but to be rather cynical along with that interest. Polisci is just a class. It can give you basic structures but don't take everything in your books or that your prof tells to be true. Use schooling to teach you how to think not what to think.

My personal nightmare would be waking up three or so years from now with conservative govt's in the States, Canada and the UK. As much as people give Blair a hard time for being Bush's 'poodle' it is nothing compared to what it would have been like with a PM that shared Bush's political views. Remember Regan and Thatcher (well you probably are too young but in theory).

Very well said. I agree100% .The injustices that are still to this day happening to natives and our poor are incredible. In OUR society there is no need for this to be happening. We are one of the G8 countries should be able to do alot better for our elderly, poor, education etc. The list goes on and on. Obviously after 12 PLUS years the liberals have not succeeded. Something needs to change.

I stayed with psychology rather than political sciences. My head would've exploded and I'd still be in long-term therapy had I taken your combination above.

France don't want'em. They disdain Quebecers like retarded cousins.

Our best option is make sure the hole in the hull won't be discovered until they're far, far from the mouth of the St. Lawrence.

its pointless anyway.. if libs win we have a minority gov again... if PC wins same thing. Either way we will be back at this again in a year or so anyway when Jack laton thinks he can get more seats again.

I didn't vote as I don't intend to be a Canadian resident any longer.

I agree with Brad also, but SleazyDream lives in Manitoba, I thought this was common knowledge.

remember the good ol' days of the Rhinoceros Party of Canada?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinoceros_Party_of_Canada

Rhinoceros Party platform
Bryan Gold of the Rhinoceros Party described the party platform as two feet high and made of wood. "My platform is the one I'm standing on." A candidate named Ted "not so" Sharp ran in Flora MacDonald's Ontario riding with the campaign slogan "Fauna, not flora", promising to give fauna equal representation. Sharp's platform on the controversial abortion issue was clear: "If elected, I promise to never have an abortion." Party Member (and singer) Michel Rivard once went on TV (during free air time given to political party) and stated: "I have but two things to say to you: Celery and Sidewalk. Thank you, good night."

The Rhinos have also promised to break every promise (a platform plank they claim has been copied and put into execution by the mainstream parties) and have promised, if elected, to immediately demand a recount.

Other platform promises released by the Rhinoceros Party included:

repealing the law of gravity,
reducing the speed of light because it's much too fast,
paving Thunder Bay to make a parking lot for Toronto,
providing higher education by building taller schools,
instituting English, French and illiteracy as Canada's three official languages,
offering to retrain those constituents who want to become illiterate by enrolling them in a state educational institution,
tearing down the Rocky Mountains so that Albertans could see the Pacific sunset, or moving them one metre west as a make-work project,
legalising pot. And pans. And spatulas. And other kitchen utensils,
building sloping roads and bicycle paths across the country so that Canadians could "coast from coast to coast",
making all sidewalks out of rubber to prevent inebriated people from hurting themselves when they fall down
responding to the energy crisis, reducing energy costs for transportation by moving the cities of Montréal 50km west and Toronto 50km east,
abolishing pumping oil out of the ground as that oil is there to keep the earth moving smoothly on its axis and if you withdraw the oil, the whole thing will grind to a halt,
abolishing the environment because it's too hard to keep clean and it takes up so much space,
annexing the United States, which would take its place as the third territory (after the Yukon and North-West Territories) in Canada's backyard, in order to raise the mean temperature of Canada by one degree Celsius,
replacing the Canadian Armed Forces with clones of Vladislav Tretiak,
end crime by abolishing all laws
making bubble gum the national currency, so that it could be inflated or deflated at will,
breeding a mosquito that would only hatch in January so that "the little buggers will freeze to death",
turning Montreal's Saint Catherine Street into the world's longest bowling alley,
adopting the British system of driving on the left; this was to be gradually phased in over five years with large trucks first, then buses, eventually including small cars and bicycles last,
as an energy-saving idea, putting larger wheels on the back of all cars so that they will always be going downhill,
selling the Canadian Senate at an antique auction in California,
putting the national debt on Visa,
declaring war on Belgium because a Belgian cartoon character, Tintin, killed a rhinoceros in one of the cartoons,
offering to call off the proposed Belgium-Canada war if Belgium delivered a case of mussels and a case of Belgian beer to Rhinoceros "Hindquarters" in Montréal (the Belgian Embassy in Ottawa did, in fact, do this),
painting Canada's coastal sea limits so that Canadian fish would know where they were at all times,
counting the Thousand Islands to make sure none were missing,
running a Penny Hoar in Toronto on a safe sex platform,
running more than one candidate per riding as an MP's salary is certainly enough to support more than one person,
exploiting acid rain as an electrical energy source by placing dissimilar-metal electrodes in Canadian swimming pools in order to use them as batteries,
making Canadians stronger by putting steroids in the water,
banning lousy Canadian winters,
moving the Vatican to Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec to promote tourism,
putting the West Edmonton Mall on wheels and rolling it to areas of the country suffering from economic depression,
turning the Louis-Hippolyte Lafontaine tunnel in Montreal into a free carwash by poking holes in the ceiling,
annexing Greenland and creating a cartel with other northern nations in order to sell icebergs to the Saudi's, the cartel would be called "Icepec",
digging a canal from coast to coast, by hand, to reduce unemployment; and then, leveling the Rocky Mountains and using the canal to transport the material east to fill in the Great Lakes, in order to expand Canada's landmass.
The Rhino Party also declared that, should they somehow actually win an election, they would immediately dissolve and force a second election.

Despite the obvious appeal of banning winter, the Rhinoceros Party never succeeded in winning a seat in Parliament. In the 1984 federal election, however, the party won the fourth-largest number of votes, after the three main political parties, but ahead of several well-established minor parties. Rhino candidates sometimes came in second in certain ridings, humiliating traditional Canadian parties in the process. In the 1980 federal election, for instance, the Rhinoceros party nominated a professional clown/comedian named Sonia "Chatouille" Chahaha244;thahaha233; ('chatouille' means tickles in French) in the Laurier riding in Montrhahaha233;al. Chahaha244;thahaha233; came in second place, after the successful Liberal candidate, but ahead of both other major parties: the third place New Democrat, and the fourth-place Progressive Conservative candidate. Chatouille received almost twice as many votes as the PC candidate.

Yes I know all about the residential schools. The last one was closed not too long ago if I remember correctly.

Hey, that's called colonialism. I don't agree that holding them as second rate citizens is right. That's why I think reserves need to be abolished, and they can pay taxes and get jobs like the rest of us.
