I don't get in until tomorrow afternoon, I have a ride from the airport (thank you MattK!), going to dinner off the strip tomorrow night and the closest I'll get to the show is possibly hitting the V's circle bar Sat. night to see some old friend. Then when the hotel prices are decent and cabs are available, I'll be eating and drinking for a few days

I am not at the show, but i fail to see how AVN is responsible for the lack of people visiting booths. They set up the show, whose fault is it that not a lot of webmasters attended?

I didnt go to Vegas either it was sure to be a Monkey fuck this year.

AVN did wrong to Ellisa on a press release they wouldnt remove her full real name from. They lost my Business that day and will never get it back.

I am glad the people I like that worked there left I hate when your friends work for the most fucked up unethical company in the biz.

Costa Rica and Phoenix will be where we spend that money slotted for AVN
and it will cost about the same to go to both shows as it would have cost me to attend Internext!

Its totally thier fault for fucked up marketing of the show! when you get a booth and spend upwards of 100K as some companies do to attend you expect them to spend some of that 100K on getting webmasters to attend the shows.

AVN is just sucking the money out of webmasters pockets and not returning shit over the last few years.

It is their fault for scheduling the show at the same time as their other show AND CES, thus spreading focus too thin, taxing resources, and allowing the hotels to jack up the room rates to ridiculous levels.

JFK,

Sounds like you're the only one having fun, though I have to disagree with you on attendance, just because a place like Rum Jungle is packed doesn't mean there's a lot of people attending the show. However, that said we didn't bother doing anything for this show, we are focusing our time and $ on the Phoenix show along with an upcoming Canadian show this summer.

IF AVN were smart, they could save just a little face by immediately announcing that a pass to either show gets you into both.

On a side note, IF your aunt had balls, she would be your uncle.

Ugh !?! Ok ... I'ma promoter. I'l setup a blink 41 concert at the same time a offpsring and a rolling stone concert is in a small town that can't handle all 3.

Also, most of the people will have to fly in, and pay 3 times as much for hotel rooms.

It's their mistakes that made the show small ... and the advertisers are the one paying the note.

This just reinforces my belief that money marketing to webmasters is best spent online at resource sites and boards, even if ithe ROI isn't immediate at least you get longer exposure to more people in the long run, and it's less taxing on your resources. We get more webmasters to our sites in one day than an entire AVN show (and many of our competitor sites do as well). With targeted online marketing and prudent show exposure through solid repesentatives at regional show I feel many adult companies have had a forumla for success. You can't put all your eggs in one basket, ever.

March at Mandalay?

I guess the show wars are beginning, only this time instead of AVN and Cybernet, it will be AVN and CCBill...

Wonder how soon CCBill might decide to add a second show to their lineup? Probably not in Phoenix, but I'll bet something emerges soon... ;)

First of all, the AVN show is pretty packed. Internext is tucked off somewhere and many people THINK they're going to Internext when they're really in the AVN area.

Secondly, Internext is indeed tiny this year. And quiet. But I looked at Belinda and said, "I kinda like this... I feel like people are actually talking to me instead of just spewing out words as they watch the floor to see who else is walking by". So it's less traffic but better service, in my opinion.

The crowds are kinda fun. And the parties are great! Should they have scheduled it on different weeks? Surely. But I'm still having a good time.

But AVN... on a side note: make me choose between you and Phoenix and you'll lose every time. March at Mandalay does not sound good to me at all. I'll be seeing CCBill and my ol' buddy Steve Lightspeed!

Yep, and there are 25 flights daily from Phoenix to Vegas, if not more... those flights last under an hour. Plenty of webmasters, myself included, have left Phx for Vegas either on Saturday afternoon to catch the Saturday evening games, or on Sunday afternoon to be there for the finals on Monday.

Happens every year ;)

Ditto..as much as I would enjoy going to both it is a long way for me to fly so there is one major show a year for me. I did Phoenix last year and it was the first event I had been to where I felt really comfortable, felt it was largely for professionals, represented both the straight and gay markets and there weren't as many non-industry 'booth girls' but there were a lot of women that run their own sites which was refreshing. I suppose what I am trying to say is there was a greater sense of community at the CCBill show. Plus, the seminars were actually interesting.

So, it will take something special for me to pick another show over Phoenix.

Well, here goes:

The show ofganizers are always responsible directly or indirectly (depending on circumstance) for the attendance to a show - and specifically attendance on the show floor. Over the years, more and more of the business is done in social settings, bars, private parties, VIP lounges, and what not. They are not done on the show floor because the bigger roller players and company owners go off into the private to do whatever business acts they need to do, and cannot be found. Vegas is big, babeeeeeeee, and it's easy for these guys to go away and never be seen.

Add to the deal that Vegas runs all day all night, party til noon, many many people just never make it to the show floor, just basically doing a 3 or 4 day cycle or party all night, sleep most of the day, and do again.

Miami works because everyone is in one place, and sooner or later, you will see pretty much all of the major players either on the show floor or by the pool or around the hotel.

I think AVN shifted the dates to March because even before the doors opened for this year, they realized and understood that they had made a fairly serious (but unavoidable) error moving the show onto the same dates as the video show. I have attended every IA2000 / Internext show since... hmm... Monte Carlo? Orlando? Anyway... I am not there this year, many of the people I know who attend are not there this year. I could not justify what would have been $4k to come down from Canada stay 5 or 6 days, eat, play, party, and whatnot. I am sure others are int he same boat.

Don't run away from AVN, but vote clearly and loudly with all you got: "this isn't the show we want".

Alex

Against all odd, I must say that the show have been good for us finally, I had the chance to meet the ones I wanted to and also I got undivided attention of some big guys for few minutes.

The thing I'm still unsure thought it is about the dates for 2007... Especially at the Bay. I hate this hotel

PLUS : Ususally I fly once to Vegas in January and I do 2 events (Intx & Avn). Now I have to choose for wich event I will fly there next year, January for Avn or March for Intx... Tuff choice in my case. Maybe I won't fly at all and some will do the same and will decide to go to Phoenix...

AVN, don't get me wrong I still love you guys, but you should listen better to what webmasters/companies want.... They are your customers after all...

We are also runing a show (smaller of course) QWEBEC Expo, and as we often say to guys who are asking for question or do special recommendation, "This is YOUR show guys! We are just putting the pieces together"....

The best scenario was 3 year ago... 3 days of Intx, then 4 days of Avn, side by side halls with no crossover days... They should have scheduled the Intx show AFTER the AVN this year, so they could have their CES fans at the Avn show and also some Web ppl like me at both Intx and AVN like I do for several years now...

I have the feeling that this year I did 50% of Intx and 50% of Avn
