I have no problem with what I do for a living, but I don't need everyone in my community knowing what I do for a living, just as I wouldn't want them to know how much money I make, how much is in my 401k etc.

The town I live in is small, and full of mostly retired people. They have nothing better to do than gossip. The consequences could go far past them knowing. Being a firefighter I could lose my job if shit like this got out. It's just not cool to send out mailers like that. There should be some discretion and some common sense.

i agree with the most part but if its your kids youre worried about, just dont let them get the mail. You know your gonna recieve stuff. Even if it came in a black envelope, kids are kids, and they could possibly open it up to see what it is.

No matter what you do, pornography will always be controversial, too much religion worldwide and closed minds make limited judgements that it is 'dirty' etc.

I guess these webmasters should just do what AVN suggests and get themselves removed from the mailing list. Maybe when a bunch stop getting the mag and they notice their advertising $'s decreasing then they'll realise one of the most important things to know in business - they need to listen to their customers.

AVN is supposed to be there for webmasters, not the opposite. It was pretty fucking obvious what we wanted, and they didn't comply. I personally try to stay away as much as possible from them.

My kids NEVER check the mail unless I've already checked it before hand just incase something that they shouldn't see happens to be in there. Even though they like to check the mail, I can't just allow them to run out the door willy nilly and get it if they feel so inclined. I realize what industry I work in and I censor what my kids can possibly be exposed to.

For me the local P.O. boxes are at the post office 1/4 mile from my house in the same small town, so unless I wanted to get a P.O. 30 miles away from me, it doesn't really matter. My child also gets mail at the box, several times a week. So I should take away something from him that makes him happy and makes him feel like a responsible big boy (anyone who has had a child around 7 yrs of age knows what I'm talking about)

I do everything I can to keep my work from coming into his life. When I get home from work with him, I do no adult related work until after he is in bed, and even then I still close and lock the door to the room where I do my work.

Trust me, I know its up to me to protect my son from things, and I do the best I can. However, a little discretion on the part of a company is not too much to ask. After all, is their product not to serve and inform us, is it not our advertising dollars who pay their bills.

Common courtesy among people/business partners may be a strange and unknown topic to most of you, but its really not asking too much.

All they have to do is say sorry..we fucked up, bad policy..and then actually change future mailings, but they choose to lay the blame off on the recipents of their unscolicited mailings????

To answer your question, I don't have kids, if I did I would be even more discreet about what I do.
