The GPL is very strict. Even if you take 10 lines of code from a 1000 line GPL'd source code and use it in your own system you ARE violating the license.

GPL is an EXTREMELY viral license, that is why many open source people hate it and why there are licenses like BSD.

Rewriting code from scratch without basing it on the old one is very difficult for any programmer and you should be careful that he really does so.

I know like I said the script was originally written just for me a long time ago. Later my coder came to me about selling some scripts, and this one we decided on as it worked so well. Once I found out from Damian that it may be using some source from another feed puller, I immediately contacted the coder, and he agreed to rewrite it.

What most people reading this don't understand is that Autoblogger in it's current form is already completely rewritten, it uses some functions over, and some form buttons, that's it. To say it IS feedword press is not true, it isn't. It was so heavily modified to do, and work the way I needed.

Image downloader was added, source linker, wordchanger etc. Feedword Press itself is based on another rss agregator.

Regardless he is rewriting it again. Everyone will get the upgrade, and we can move on. I'm not making excuses, but I was just as surprised by this, and immediately set to making it right.

For Damien to say I didn't is lame. I told him I would speak to the coder, and get it fixed, he never mentioned a refund, nor did he give the impression he wanted one. He came to me as a "Heads up". I let him know what happened, and posted here too. I never heard from him again regarding it, till now.

All Relinksoftware really has to do to have their system GPL compliant is distribute the code for the existing functions they used (the RSS library, wow that's pretty unique complicated code) along with it. You're paying for a complete automated system, feel free to put the whole thing together and customize it yourself (hint: Relinksoftware is not just reselling an existing script so it will take you some time).

I chose not to buy this product because I can put the identical thing together using available tools and my own programming skills. I'll do it for you if you like, but I'll charge a hell of a lot more than $70.

Thanks Sam. I set the business up for the coder, but it's my merchant account, so I do get the money. He was refunded.
