What they hell? They close your account when it gets "too much" money in it?

When on earth is someone going to start up something to compete with these fuckwits?

And kind of scarry. I hate to say, but things like this happen right before companies vanish.

They close it if you fart. No really they do.

I sometimes have the feeling after reading these threads daily that they have a bunch of monkeys working there and they let them sit behind the computer and let them ramdomly close accounts.

Monkeys cost money to feed, and seriously dude , chill out on the monkey reference's !! I have a monkey and he gets offended everytime you compare him to an epassporte support person.

but seriously , yes they need to be a bit more picky with how they do random account suspensions.. Although it wouldnt be nearly as much of a problem if they didn't re-activate the account in a timely fashion, kudos to keyzer for getting this straightened out faster, lets hope this small burst of "good" epass karma will last

Yeah paypal is scary as well but mainly if you use it for adult stuff like i did. Like expected they closed it. But they sent my money to my bank account within days.
Other than that i never had a problem with paypal. And this was my own fault since i broke their rules.

When your account reaches $5000 or more in it, they require more information to have on file for your account. This is the email they send you when you are getting close to the $5000 limit:

Quote:
Dear Accountholder,

You are receiving this notice as a courtesy regarding your ePassporte account.

ePassporte closely monitors your account to ensure that your funds are protected
from fraudulent use. The cumulative amount of funds in your account is approaching
USD $5,000.00 . As a security measure and for your protection, when your
epassporte account balance reaches USD $5,000.00 , we will require you to provide
us certain information in order to authenticate your account, including:

(i) a photocopy of a government-issued ID with your picture on it and

(ii) photocopies of the front and back of the credit card or debit card which was
last used to add funds to your ePassporte account. [Important Note: If you have
not loaded your account with a debit or credit card before, a copy of the front/back
of any debit or credit card would suffice, as long as the name matches that on your
ePassporte account. Alternatively, a copy of a utility bill (Ex. electricity, gas,
or phone bill) would suffice, as long as the name and address matches that on your
ePassporte account.].

Should you wish to submit this information in advance, we prefer that you scan (or
take a digital photo) and then email these documents to
[email protected], as this method works best and is most legible.
Alternatively, you may fax the requested documents at (310) 943-2410, Attn: Account
Verification. Please keep in mind that facsimiles are not always clear, and we may
request that you re-fax your verification documents if any of these documents are
illegible. Please be sure to also include your name and ePassporte User ID for
reference.

Thank you,

The ePassporte Team

Its a requirement from the bank that accounts with more than $5,000 are verified.

Accounts are suspended for different reason.
One of them is if the account goes over $5,000.
There will always be people trying to fraud the system but legit card holders has nothing to fear.

i.e. Dear user to ensure uninterupted account usage ( including the electron card ) please submit the following information as we must have this information if your account balance reaches a certain point and may susped your account ..

or better yet why not just ask for that information when the account is opened ( because then they couldnt sit on loads of cash from accounts who didnt have those documents when they signed up with the account , and will take them time to get the documents . )

thats one issue , the other is its not always as quick to get your account re-activated.

Dont get me wrong despite their problems epassporte is a great service , i hope they iron out their customer service wrinkles and the downtime issues as well ,and they will be gold in my book

Probably would be a good idea, or at least lower the amount that triggers that courtesy email to be sent. I think it was sent to me when my account reached about $4500, maybe it should be sent to people when they reach $1000?

From the TOS when you signing up for ePassporte
Quote:
in the event that the balance in Your ePassporte Account at any time reaches USD $5,000 through an individual or any series of transactions, We may require You to provide Us (i) a photocopy of a government-issued ID with Your picture on it and (ii) photocopies of the front and back of the credit card or debit card which was last used to add funds to Your ePassporte Account. If we do not receive such documentation following Our request to You, We reserve the right in Our sole discretion to freeze Your ePassporte Account or close Your ePassporte Account as provided below in Section VIII.

It would make opening an account much more of a pain in the ass for everyone. And think about how many people who open an account and then never use it, or how many people open an account, but never ever come close to $5000

Requiring all that info up front would probably be overkill

Yes Keyser Soze helped me and got me re-activated after only 2 hours.

I was suspended because i had more then a certain amount in my account and they wanted extra verification about my identity. I kinda fucked up when i didn't read my epassporte email very often they sent me 2 previous emails in the last week or so.

But its all good now and the lesson is read your emails or accounts will get suspended and domains will expire etc....hehe

Its nice that they do that if you think about it. Sure it is an inconvenience, but its much better than having someone deposit a ton of money into your account and withdrawling it to someone else and you be stuck with the issue :cough::cough:: PAYPAL
