ok - here come the screencap's and let's start by saying that you configure the PDDW.com system for your own needs and the below example is one possible use and some more insite into our easy to use system.

after creating your account at http://IPalert.com and logging in you get a simple interface to configure your variables. i have whited out the email address and the keywords that are running in this account and this is not the entire page fyi:



then, you start to create your ever-changing list of pending delete domains and you have 2 ways to view your domain options. 1) email - you get your choice of text or html email formats and an email every day with all of your matches that are active for backorders - no sample shot here fyi. 2) visit the online version of your data which looks like this for the sample keyword "xxx" - i copied a random sample of a few matches:



you see alexa inbound links and and any alexa rank and can get google and overture as well backorder the listed domains. the instant backorder link is on my account but will be on all accounts shortly and is a real efficiency. right at the moment you will see individual icons for each registrar where i see the "instant backorder" icon.

here is what clicking the instant backorder button for one of the domains that had a bunch of direct inbound links produces:

brujah, you keep repeating that auctions are too competitive- why do you neglect this route for domain acquisitions?

the usual high's in the auctions are nowhere near that high - it's great to get domain steal's via end user's and straight from the registry and also the occasional godaddy or other no-auction backorders- but there are still some ridiculous deals when there turns out to be an auction. if it runs too high, just step back and move on to the next one. the best approach for us is a hybrid and not a reflexive banning on auctions.

I don't neglect this route. It's very competitive, but there are numerous other ways of obtaining good domains that are less competitive. This is where resources and knowledge give you a little advantage.

The auction method is one where money is the only real advantage. Anyone can throw enough money at a backorder service and walk away with the domain name.

care to give an example of an auction getting squirly with the end price and the specific domain?

i cannot think of one auction yet that was out of control. xloan.com was a bit looney and so was cayo.com (lots of traffic) but still not anything more than 1/3 of retail value from what i saw.

I'm not sure what that has to do with my post. You can just take a quick glance at http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm to see what people are paying for mediocre names. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but it illustrates my earlier point. These names at backorder auctions are competitive and the only advantage is money.

Are you sure you used IP Alert to monitor it and not just a normal pendingdelete keyword watch ? Is the IP Alert different from the keyword screencap you showed ? I was curious if it's the same thing http://www.whois.sc/mark-alert/ is doing.

You asked why I keep saying it's competitive. Because, it is.

i mostly see sedo and private sales (and a couple transactions we were in on lol) at dnjournal. that page moreso goes to evidence the increasing popularity and valuations rather than backorder auction pricing trends. there are a few humdingers off snap there but considering the high volume of domains - only a very small percentage of the actual backorder auctions are super inflated. the bulk are below retail with only a sample at ludicrous values.

it is only going to get more competitive as people continue to get hip to the opportunity.

the mark-alert thing looks like it goes to paid for the silver account and is not as expansive as what we are doing. we actually take the whole process beyond simply domains all the way to sniffing out patent and trademark applications and inventors based on criteria of importance to our customers. almost all of the ipalert customers are law firms. we actually use both the ipalert and pddw services ourselves to get total awareness achieved.

For those without an unlimited supply of cash paying auction prices for domains is retarded. If you want the most bang for your buck you don't pay "close to retail" for domains you want to flip.

sounds closed-minded when we are getting domains for $62 at auction with regularity. it's still a win-win-win. not every auction gets on everybody's radar except for 2 or 3 handles i see almost all the time. those guy's even only bid when they want something.
