The main point is WHAT THE FUCK IS IT TO YOU? If he wants to ask good, if someone wants to give her some cash good. You didn't have to read or respond with your negative bullshit. Do you write back everybody that sends you spam to ask why you would sign up for their pills when you know damn well they only paid $2 wholesale!?!?!?! It's pointless and done for the sole purpose of being a dickhead.

I'm not bragging about anything. I'm trying to point out that you're not helping someone in need, you're just helping yourself feel like you are. That's it.

I give plenty of money to people that actually need it. Just so happens none of those groups have advocates on GFY.

You obviously dont know anything about the system then.

Once on welfare it's a struggle to get off. They literally make it damn near impossible to do any good with your life.

Hardly any money is given to you. With kids it's even worse. The transition period between quitting welfare and your first paycheck doesn't leave ya any option but to stay on it or sell everything you own. They hardly give enough to feed your kids let alone buy clothes to work in.

So you're going to support this family with GFY donations instead? Good plan.

You are one sick fuck if you think a jobless mother of 3 that just lost her husband isn't "in need". Sure she can eat and get a few bucks from the government but that won't come close to getting her on her feet. You are a cold, insensitive shitstain that had to run his mouth and pound his chest. Don't send shit but stfu.

huh? who said anything about supporting this family?

Stop jumping to conlcusions just so you can let everyone know how big and mean you are.

Donations are just that, donations. She needs help. Welfare is not going to jump to her rescue tonight by 4pm. Doesn't happen that way and you fucking know it (well I would hope so if you have ANY life skills to speak of)

If people want to help pay a few of her bills off and give her a bit of time to spend with her children because right now, they really really need her right now, until she can get on her feet enough to find work then what's the problem?

The last thing on her mind is welfare right now I bet. Her own broken heart, her children's broken hearts and her mental pain is what is most likely on her mind right now.

A daddy and a husband took his life and all you can think about is how much you can be an asshole.

FUCK

YOU

You're the type of person that loves to stomp on those with a heart or in need.

for fuck sakes I hope you never breed

You have no idea how cold and insensitive I am.

If there were really a satan, and he came and offered me $10 cash but the catch is he was going to wipe out everyone you ever knew .. Well let's just say I'd be $10 richer and the average IQ of GFY would go up a little bit.

Great edit. Isn't it fun when you talk about how dumb people are but put ICQ instead of IQ? It seems to happen to all the morons talking shit.

I feel terrible for this woman but there is nothing I can do. My husband is out of work and we are making it on what I make (which isn't a lot) with 2 kids. I can certainly sympathize with her but I don't have anything to spare.

MY ADVICE? GET HER TO THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE IMMEDIATELY SHE CAN GET SURVIVOR BENEFITS FOR HER CHILDREN AND HERSELF AS A WIDOW. ALSO GET HER TO THE WELFARE OFFICE AND SEE IF THEY CAN HELp.

If I'm wrong..and Canada doesn't offer any sort of social security for widows with children...then I'm sorry but that is best I can think of. I

You know, I vaguely remember you not having money for something and asking for a loan or hand out or some shit on GFY. Could that be why you're so personally invested in this?

Oh I'm sorry, now that I think about it, it wasn't you asking for a loan it was you saying you couldn't afford a lawyer to fight for visitation rights for your kid.

Far be it from me to mock that too much, I might go to hell or something.

Let me clear this up for you and make it simple. Things happen in life that are unexpected and unfortuanate. I thought I would try and make this a little more easier for her to swallow knowing that there are people who do care. I'm not expecting the world from anyone. I didn't ask anyone to support me or my family because I can't work "legally" in Canada, like some people have. I didn't come here asking for a Vet bill for a little puppy to be paid like some people have. I'm not knocking either one of those topics, but no one jumped all over that when it was put on a topic.

This woman is visibly shaken and the sudden passing of the man who was her everything. Everything mentally, emotionally, and finically. Everything this woman knew was gone in an instant. I'm not asking GFY to support her. Just take the edge off for a bit. Yes, she is going to Income Assistance today. I told her that she didn't need to, that I would take care of whatever she needed for the week, but she insisted.

I have called many local churches, but none have gotten back as of me writing this. Some people have stepped up and I truly appericate that. Thank you for all of your kind words and help.

I have NEVER ever asked for a loan OR a handout EVER in my life.

if I'm broke, I work and get back on my feet.

So no, this is not why I have a personal interest in this,

I have a personal interest in this because I have friends with kids struggling to get by and stuck on welfare and not a single person has anything kind to say to them because to them they are "trash". I don't think being beaten by their husbands and left in the cold with 3 kids being trash.

SO my point is, welfare is not going to rescue that family. What the woman needs is some time to heal with ehr kids a bit before she ehads out into the workforce. So money would help with that.

If you don't want to help, don't. But shut your fucking pie hole about it.

SO what if I can't. i don;t have 5-10 grand to throw away. I'm sorry but I'm a working stiff like everyone else with bills.

Does that make me any less of a person?

Actually, I really wasn't trying to make fun of you other than poking a bit about an invisible man in the sky. I was more or less admitting I was wrong about you asking for money.

As for leaving my bubble, fuck that. There's poor people and liberal scum out there. Can't take the risk of being infected with bleeding-heart-itis.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't hurt me if you "help" this lady out. I'll bump this thread all night if it makes you feel fuzzy about it.

Either you do all that you can to help other people, or you do don't. So if you don't live a monk's life on the barest of essentials, then you probably are putting at least some luxury in life above somebody else's survival.

The only real different between you and me is I don't fool myself in to thinking I'm a good person for throwing a little bit of money to charity here and there.

I think his point is , that its easier and cheaper to help her with some cash..

Sure she can go to emergency welfare or a food bank , but WE still pay for it.. the only difference is WE pay 10 times more if we let her do it that way , because we have to pay for the company that write the check , pay for the govenrment employees to handle the cash , pay for the welfare workers to hand her her check , pay the bank a fee for cashing the check, by the time she gets her little welfare check we have likely paid thousands giving it to her. The govenrment doesnt magic up welfare money and food banks dont magic up food , we pay for it in taxes.

Actually Smokey, foodbanks are not run by the goverment in BC. They're funded by private donations and not tax dollars.

I agree, the welfare system is ridiculous. Fact is though, it's there, and it doesn't cost thousands extra to print her a check. It's already in place, hemorrhaging money out of the system to the poor and lazy. As that's the case, the people that actually need it might as well use it too.

not only that welfare is there to keep people on welfare ( or the employees dont get paid ) so making her go to welfare means we will continue to support her and her kids for the rest of her life.. much easier to help her out right now before she slips into that rut.

actually it does, i saw a study recently that put the pricetag of the average welfare recipent at well over $2000 per month, ( thats at an average of around $700 per month to the recepient ) Thats money we are paying.

And b.c. food banks like the salvation army ARE funded by tax dollars. ( at least partially anyways ). I know because i often hunt deer and take the deer into the salvation army for tax credit..

point is its much easier ( and cheaper ) to just give her some money for 3 months that she can relax and look for a job, because once she is on welfare she wont be able to.

You get tax receipts because it's a charity, not because it's the goverment. The moose have been leading you astray because actually, foodbanks in BC are non profit societies.

Here's some text from the Surrey foodbank, as an example:

As a non-profit, charitable organization, the Surrey Food Bank is able to operate due to private contributions, donations, corporate sponsorships and various fundraising efforts (events). We receive no government funding.

Call it like you want , but if my ten dollars that was going to pay taxes is now going to the food bank then... hmmm seems governement funded to me.. and no moose even live anywhere near me to come to that conclusion just common sense , government of canada made $10 less , food bank made $10 more

i never said they didnt make a salary i said they make commision.. they make commison AND a salary and there is no incentive to create less welfare recepients. no need for a debate on that call up your local welfare office and ask them.

No one replied to my idea. I know women and even men also who become widows/widowers especially with young children can collect social security survivor benefits.

Does Canada have anything like that at all?
