Don't get me wrong, it doesn't hurt me if you "help" this lady out. I'll bump this thread all night if it makes you feel fuzzy about it.
Either you do all that you can to help other people, or you do don't. So if you don't live a monk's life on the barest of essentials, then you probably are putting at least some luxury in life above somebody else's survival.
The only real different between you and me is I don't fool myself in to thinking I'm a good person for throwing a little bit of money to charity here and there.
