Sure she can go to emergency welfare or a food bank , but WE still pay for it.. the only difference is WE pay 10 times more if we let her do it that way , because we have to pay for the company that write the check , pay for the govenrment employees to handle the cash , pay for the welfare workers to hand her her check , pay the bank a fee for cashing the check, by the time she gets her little welfare check we have likely paid thousands giving it to her. Actually Smokey, foodbanks are not run by the goverment in BC. They're funded by private donations and not tax dollars.

I agree, the welfare system is ridiculous. Fact is though, it's there, and it doesn't cost thousands extra to print her a check. It's already in place, hemorrhaging money out of the system to the poor and lazy. As that's the case, the people that actually need it might as well use it too.
