One caveat to that: Research research research. The best boobjobs I've felt/seen/whatever all seemed to come from a limited small group of the same doctors (I'm in LA/Orange County area where they're a dime a dozen). Some of the worst came from "celebrity" guys like Garth Fisher. It's all about endless research. Oh one more thing related specifically to breast implants (not you necessarily FB, talking to lurkers): If having the best "feel" is your goal (not having them hard like two rocks in your chest) you need to go under the muscle, and with silicone. With saline you tend to get ripples in the bag, and they don't feel as good to the touch.

Plastic surgery for your own personal reasons and not someone else's can probably be a big booster for the old self-esteem.

And you know damn well women don't do it for themself, they do it to compete with the other women doing it. If you want to do something for yourself, be happy with yourself the way you are, yourself will really appreciate it. |

The way I see it is this....
If you need it, get it..if you just want it to out do the other chica that has DD's...don't do it if you feel you don't want to. Reason being..I know plenty of people that DO need it. Bariatric patients with excess skin that need to have it removed, or need things lifted or augmented in order to 'fix' themselves back to the way they were. I lost 180 pounds. One and a half of myself... In that case, I see nothing wrong with it. And I say that..because I have been there...and I still have a few more to go. So I wouldn't condemn those people that want it, or have had it...let them do what they want, it's a free fucking country and if you want to call it insecure, then fine...but I don't judge... So if you want the boobs...by all means, get them mother fuckers. Whatever makes you happy...because in the end all you have to answer to is your own self, fuck what everyone else thinks...

my personal opinion is that, despite of work needs (read models or whatever), you should never go for surgery unless you have a real reason for doing it. i.e. for health issues or things like that, then its the right thing to do. but on the other hand, some people can't really like themselves as they are, so they do few mods here and there, but then there's another thing.....say you start doing one mod, then another....when will you stop? it's not an easy topic and discussions could go on forever.

I agree on the BDD...it's a serious illness.
It is almost the same as anorexics that look in the mirror and still see themselves as fat. Remember the woman who wanted to look like a barbie doll and went through like 30 operations to do so? She is in england, I believe. There is a limit to it. But then again, the media dictates what is in and what is not. A while there was the rush for "J LO" booties....women were getting butt implants to get phat behinds... Before that it was lip injections to make their lips more luscious and large... Then it was botox to get rid of lines and wrinkles.. Boob jobs have always been there, but one dude told me they actually make women look OLDER to have big boobs...now that I look at it, it's true. Unless the girl has a fresh face, they do age a person. That pic of that tranny...that is plastic surgery gone TOO FAR...she looks plastic and fake...almost like poor lil kim does now. She looked so cute back in the day when she had her real features. (shakes head) Then there is Joan Rivers...the queen of plastic surgery. If they have the money, people will do anything to achieve their vision of beauty...or the MEDIA's ideal of beauty. The question is...WHO IS THE IDEAL we are putting ourselves up to and saying is the epitome of what-ever-ness? Me, I just want to (and need to) do it to be myself again. It's funny when you feel like you are living in someone else's skin. I suppose this is what a person feels like before they come out of the closet...

Interesting discussion.
I have a healthy respect for plastic surgery. Women and men don't want to age and there are ways to slow it down, so why not? Some women have boobs that cause back injuries. If a reduction helps, why not? The excessive use of plastics, however, speaks more to internal emotional issues...that desire to be perfect....or never grow old. Gravity and Nature will win, no matter what.... I fear for women and men who are constantly trying to recreate themselves.....there are surgeries that cut muscle and nerves....and there is risk, every time we put ourselves under anesthesia.... What can go wrong often does.....but, when it's right, it's awesome.

well i am pretty damn sure we are not talking about medical reasons here are we? im not. yes my statement is very sexist as i am. i believe most girls lack attention why would you disguise yourself with makeup every morning? so you can look better than you really are? way to go self esteem ;) i also generalize from a personnal experience of mine. one of my ex's had her boobs done while with me but was unconfortable dropping the top in the bed i then proceeded to conclude that if it wasnt for me, and it sure as shit werent for her since she already looked fuckin great, it was for other people. we all want attention on different levels, however females seem to base their whole lifestyles upon first impressions. i would say that over 60% of products that are female-targetted have to do with looks, and thats irrefutable. therefore we live in a democracy so except for a few dykes and a few ugly beeyatches, they all have seen the power that looks give to them, and therefore i understand WHY they would do it. i just find it down right vicious. im not saying you have bad intentions or anything, BUT i believe men are stronger in their commitments. yes it is sexist, it is a lots of things but most of all its true. anybody who denies that is biased and is judging from "exceptions" or "minorities". and i still love you too, lets group hug so i can feel your fake boobs bouncing on my well-trained pecs (see i work out i do it for my health but subconsciously i probably enjoy the look it gives me too...plus at least i earned it heheh)

Attention whore? (geez.....) And I earned my boobs as much as you earned your pecs. No man bought anything for me, and no man should have to. Just like women who wear hair weaves and extensions as well...when people ask if it's their hair...they say "Yeah it's mine.... I BOUGHT IT- even got the reciept..want to see?". Same principle. What you say is true due to the sadness of the media and societies views on women and how we SHOULD act and SHOULD be. I am no dyke or femme (yet I would declare myself a feminist)...but I would defend a woman anyday over the statements of a sexist, silly over testorone filled man. But I still love men. And sometimes, I agree, women can act dumb as well. So we are both in the same boat....yet..... It's a choice with the plastic surgery thing. Let's leave it at that. Topic getting old. (yawn) Now can we end this topic?
