Danny_C, if you think peace in Palestine will be achieved through bloodless means by anything less than total Israeli evacuation then you haven't researched the subject as well as you would have us believe.
Your assumption that those whose opinion is contrary to yours are not thinking about matters before posting is a cheap attempt to divert attention away from the topic. There is a lot of information on the internet available for anybody willing to take the time. The Arab states now blame everything on Israel but it would be wise to remember that these are the countries that sided with the Axis in WWII. In 1948, one day after Israel's first prime minister David Ben-Gurion declared the existence of the Jewish state it was attacked by Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. Saudi Arabia, a country that has a history of not allowing entrance to jews, recently stated that peace is dependent on Israel pulling out of disputed areas of Palestine. In my opinion, these are intolerent, largely uneducated people with a deep hate of the western world. We all fought them in the past and will likely need to do so in the near future. The only peace in the Mid-East will come after a massive war and restructuring of the region. |

This just pisses me off to no end!!!

OKay, I am not taking sides because like I said I think both sides are just as bad as each other but that link it hardly unbiased. It is full of editoral phrases and doesn't even attempt to see the other side. DOn't det me wrong other websites exsist doing the same for the the other side.
On another note..why does the website need 'heart tugging' mussic for all its pages. Either the story is deep and touching or it isn't.

Let's see what have their Arab brothers done to help them? Why were so many palestinians kicked out of Arab countries, like Kuwait and Jordan. Why are they still living in refugee camps, 50 plus years after the founding of Israel. Those refugee camps are a fucking joke...they are kept there for political purposes only. the palestinians are opressed alright, but by who? Don't put words in my mouth. I never excused them for anything. In fact, I specifically said the opposite. I said that I don't agree with their tactics, but that I try to understand their motivations. The Israelis haven't exactly been saints, and we shouldn't treat them like they are. We love to suck up to the powerful and treat the oppressed like barbarians - rather than calling them barbarians, how about words like, "uneducated". "Desperate".
It may be an unpopular attitude, but when the WTC was attacked, first I condemned their actions. THEN I tried to understand what would motivate them to do such a thing. Sure, it's 80% brainwashing. The other 20% is legitimate resentment toward the U.S. If even 1% of that resentment is legitimate, then where is the problem in a little change? What's wrong with swallowing some pride and revising foreign policy in order to save some lives? I guess it's much easier to just to throw some bombs at them, though. If we miss a few times and kill some innocent children... well, that's just the price of a war. Anyway, I agree with the rest. Religion is at the root of it all, and the sooner we realize that dogmatic faith in ancient books and scrolls is limiting our ability to expand our knowledge of truth, and keeping us at war with one another (and of course, killing gays, etc), the better. Anyway, I'm out of this thread... I'm gonna get in trouble. |

Oh, and a couple final notes before I finish... cause I don't want to come off wrong:
1) I didn't mean to sound rude in my first post. If I did, I'm sorry. 2) Even Bush (from my understanding) has said that the Palestineans need to be given their own land. 3) I want to reinforce the fact that I'm NOT excusing any terrorism. I'm against violence in all forms. It was a philosophical argument. I just think people are too quick to judge on the wrong basis, and defend their own before they really consider every angle. We have too much pride, at the expense of objective thought. To sum up: I think there are better ways we could be handling that situation. |
