1. The CDA is not dead. The parts relating to obscenity were not changed by the Supreme Court, and indeed, were upheld by a 3 judge panel in a NY Federal District Court on Monday.
2. While it might be against the rules of the card associations to use credit cards to verify age, the CDA makes use of a credit card an affirmative defense under the Act. In other words, the rules of card associations do not bind the US Congress.
3. As stated before in another post, this tax will not "legalize" porn; it is already legal for adults to view it. If porn rises to the level of being "obscene", it is not protected - and that is determined at the state and city levels as well. It also does not change the fact that California remains the only state in the US were it is legal to produce porn content. All this does is take 25% of the money away from the business.

I didn't convince a number of my family blindly supporting the Republican party until after the first term of Bush 43 that blindly led blindly follows.

Of course anyone I might have personally enlightened as to actual goings on was drowned out by the ones who were motivated to act by the TV & radio ads and crap being shoved in their hands/mailboxes declaring that the Democrats were poised to take away their Bibles and guns while forcing them to accept homosexuals and pay for the AIDS they all have and abortions.

The South was and to the best of my knowledge still is primarily an agrarian based economy. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

funny Colin, isn't it, how you claim not to be a republican but you're always defending some conservative asshat or posting something to make the dems look bad.

surprise surprise, there are exploitative democratic politicians too. We're an easy target and they need to do something to make themselves look all moral and holier than thou just like the repubs do every day of the week, every week of the year. I suppose you'd be SHOCKED if you found out that Hillary wasn't really best friends with Newt Gingrich and vice versa, right?

The fact that democrats can occasionally be asshats and scrape the bottom for votes doesn't change the fact the party of fundamentalist fanatical christians, censors and bigots sits on the right side of the aisle.

Dont worry guys, The conservatives will save you from more taxation. Always have, always will.

Thats the good thing about liberals loosing power in all three branches of the government, you dont have to worry about crazy taxes killing your business in the name of social programs.
while they run up the biggest deficits this country has ever known.

They don't spend less, they spend more. They just cut taxes to get the moron vote and leave the mess for democrats to clean up when they finally get voted out of office.

As business and industry grew along with communication sources, middle class citizens began to realize conservative values.

In the south, Nursing homes and college dorms are filled with democrats, everyone else is more conservative than your average liberal.

Its a common misconception that backwoods southern rednecks vote repulican. Those people still vote democrats along with the inner cities which in most cases are made up of a majority of minorities. LOL

The surburbs of the cities create the red states.
It was called 'the southern strategy' and it was designed to get the dixie democrats voting republican basically because they didn't like the repeal of segregation and all that this entailed. The republican party stole the racist vote, which is their modus operandi. Scrape the bottom of the barrel for votes, offer simple solutions to complex problems, get elected AT ALL COSTS and spread the blame when the time comes to pay the piper.

Democrats have lost all three branches of the government and have only elected 2 presidents in the last 30+ years.

One of them is remembered as the worst president ever.

The other is remembered for projecting a budget surplus based on 10 more years of continued revenue from a dot.com economy. (and fucking fat interns)

Ive been watching news reports about this and even the people who support it say it wont do enough because so many sites are from outside of America and dont have to comply.

The reports also said you cant tax 1 portion of free speech.

First off, one of the reasons Carter is remembered so poorly is because he couldn't resolve the hostage situation, and we later found out that GB 1 and Ronald Reagan were in constant communication with them. Funny how the hostages got released as soon as he was sworn in office isn't it? We all know by now that the Mullahs were shaking in their boots and must have been intimidated by Reagan. That's why they let the hostages go right? Because they're so easily intimidated?

It's no surprise that dems have been losing since the repubs figured out how easy it was to get votes by appealing to prejudice and fear rather than enlightened self-interest. Politicians are supposed to be leaders and thinkers. Statesmen. When you toss out any notion of ethics and fair play, as the republicans have done, it becomes much easier to brainwash a nation.

It's also hilarious how the right wing brands everyone concerned about protecting their individual liberties as traitors to the country while the leaders you deify make deals to keep American hostageis captive overseas for political purposes, thwart the expressed will of the nation and congress in Honduras and out covert CIA operatives to get revenge on their spouses for not playing ball when they're trying to lie to the nation about WMD.

Make no mistake about it: Conservatives are traitors to this country and it's ideals. 40 years from now, after you've led us into WWIII and we've started to recover, history will judge this era more harshly than Joe McCarthy. They'll wonder what the hell we were thinking.

Actually, the horrible economy is why carter is remembered as the worst president ever.

A lot of southerners actually started voting republican during the mid-term elections in Clintons first term.

The democrats ignorance of the country is one reason they cant win elections. I bet you guys didn't know this fact:

Politically, the South includes 13 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Together they cast 168 electoral college votes, more than three-fifths of the 270 required for election.

You better bet those "jesus land" pics will help the democrats get those 3/5ths in the next election cycle.

your only defense for being conservative seems to be that so many other people are too. We already know our population is easily misled, especially when they want to be. Look how often Rush Limbaugh lies to his audience, and how thoroughly this is documented. Do you mind? No. He's telling you lies you want to hear. Just like GWB. As if it was some big surprise there were no WMD.

You can't get away with this as a liberal, and that's because we actually care whether someone's lying to us.

The Republicans are all talk about morals.

However, the Democrats take very real action to make sure that big government sticks its nose into everything; the Democrats believe big government can solve all society's problems, and they are delighted to use our tax money trying.

Until 1994, Democrats enjoyed majority voters in the south.

In their midterm landslide of 1994, Republicans for the first time captured the majority of House and Senate seats from the South.

Republicans have increased the number of seats they hold in the 13 Southern states from 18 before Bush took office to 22. (The GOP has now won the last 10 open-seat Senate races in the South.) In the House, Republicans have stretched their advantage in the Southern states from 27 seats before Bush took office to 40 today

Clinton won more than 650 counties in each of his presidential victories out of 1124 counties

I love irony, Democrats told me that a president lieing under oath about molesting an intern in the oval office was OK because it was a "private matter".

Those same idiot democrats demand to know the personal views of the wife of a supreme court nominee.

Your party fucks you in the ass and you love it.

no, we knew he got a blow job, we just didn't care. It had nothing to do with his performance as a public servant. A very different case from lying to congress about contras or weapons of mass destruction. Of course, you pretend not to understand this obvious distinction just like every other conservative.

Honestly, you're just too stupid to be interesting. Sorry. I was hoping Colin would come out to play and you're not an adequate substitute.

Was? I cannot tell you prior till the 60's. Is? I can drive hundreds of miles without seeing anything that qualifies as more than a garden or field

I do have access to several great produce markets here and inquire regularly where individual stuff comes from and it's most often the midwest.

Dig,

Yawn. Again! Stop following me around and then not reading the responses ;-) All I ever state is that Democrats are just as big of idiots as Republicans. I stand by that assertion. For some reason you always assume that that because I think they are equally a nuisance means I favor the one you don't like.

It's simple for me. Republicans are too totalitarian and Democrats are too Commy. Take off your blinders and try to see things from a non-party point if view. They both look ridiculous and they will both be the death of us.

Now where did I defend Republicans? I didn't even attack Democrats. I said that Republicans are not the enemy, but that "everyday normal people" are.

I love diglets description of the bottom of the barrel.
big business votes republican
the south votes republican
people who want lower taxes vote republican
people who want a stronge military vote republican

who votes democratic?
welfare recipiants
unions
public employees

do you know the meaning of a democracy? Its what all western countries are. In a democracy people can vote for their president/prime minister. The US is a democracy. So when you look objectively to the word 'democrat', every single citizen in the US is a democrat.
The media has made the words democrat and republican too black and white, thats not the way it works.

kid, stop reading the threads about how smart the people of your country are. You're not one of them. pretending you have a clue about our government will only embarrass you.

oh, and our form of government is called a "Republic" not a "democracy"
so much for wondering if I know the meaning of democracy, eh?
