It's no surprise that dems have been losing since the repubs figured out how easy it was to get votes by appealing to prejudice and fear rather than enlightened self-interest. Politicians are supposed to be leaders and thinkers. Statesmen. When you toss out any notion of ethics and fair play, as the republicans have done, it becomes much easier to brainwash a nation.

Actually, the horrible economy is why carter is remembered as the worst president ever.

A lot of southerners actually started voting republican during the mid-term elections in Clintons first term.
