This is pretty true. Every "redneck" and farmer I knew growing up was Democrat due to subsidies and other similar programs. They do not vote Republican because Republicans are behind the larger farming corporations that push a lot of the regular farmers out of business.

My uncle is the only Republican farmer I've ever known, and a lot of that is based off of his religious morals.

I didn't convince a number of my family blindly supporting the Republican party until after the first term of Bush 43 that blindly led blindly follows.

Of course anyone I might have personally enlightened as to actual goings on was drowned out by the ones who were motivated to act by the TV & radio ads and crap being shoved in their hands/mailboxes declaring that the Democrats were poised to take away their Bibles and guns while forcing them to accept homosexuals and pay for the AIDS they all have and abortions.

surprise surprise, there are exploitative democratic politicians too. We're an easy target and they need to do something to make themselves look all moral and holier than thou just like the repubs do every day of the week, every week of the year. I suppose you'd be SHOCKED if you found out that Hillary wasn't really best friends with Newt Gingrich and vice versa, right?

The fact that democrats can occasionally be asshats and scrape the bottom for votes doesn't change the fact the party of fundamentalist fanatical christians, censors and bigots sits on the right side of the aisle.

It was called 'the southern strategy' and it was designed to get the dixie democrats voting republican basically because they didn't like the repeal of segregation and all that this entailed. The republican party stole the racist vote, which is their modus operandi. Scrape the bottom of the barrel for votes, offer simple solutions to complex problems, get elected AT ALL COSTS and spread the blame when the time comes to pay the piper.
