Want to hear from Philly-area Webmasters!!

Yo, you from Philly? Talking about Philadelphia, PA, the City of Brotherly Love. Or at least the great ol' "Delaware Valley" area.

Who's from around here? First, I'm just curious. Second, I might have something for you. But that's for later.

I recall a LightSpeed stop with Tanker once and a couple of Dave & Buster get together's a few years ago, so I know there's more than just a couple of you on here.

Let's here the shout outs! Mention exactly where you're from. Me? I'm right in the city, Northeast Philly, around Mayfair.

Pat's? Eh. Gino's Steaks are better! So are Jim's.

Actually it's pretty damned hard to make a bad cheesesteak IN Philadelphia -- outside of Philly it seems they can ONLY make bad ones. Don't ask me why, but it's true.

Sarah, I had no idea, wow! And yeah, you are a bit off the beam there now aren't you?

I know why it's quiet on this thread. It's 98 degrees here today. Most people went to the Joisey shore to beat da heat.

The place in Reading Terminal Market that gives discounts to people on jury duty isn't that shabby ;) I will never forget when I took my husband back to the States for the first time and our first stop was Boston. He saw a 'Philly' steak place in a Boston train station and I banned him from having it there and he got pissy and tried it anyway and said it was horrible. I made him eat one in Philly and he appolagized to me.

When you're done chillin' there Jim, why don't you send on over the rest of the money you owe me? This Friday, it will be a complete year that it has been since I sent you $1250 and you still haven't paid me all back.

For any Philadelphia area webmasters, which I was one as of last year (I'm living in NC now), I would recommend that you do not do business with Jim, or Herb as he goes by on here.

Damn, why all you Philly people move South for? Doncha know it's hot down there?

Tacony, yes! There's one. Now where's VirtuMike, 12Clicks and Jason ATM all hiding at, I wonder?

Deb, I gotta turn on ICQ? Again? hehe I got your latest message. Disappointed you're not returning but happy to hear from you girl!

Sarah, I forgot about the Reading Terminal one. That's Oilivari. Pat (King of Steaks son) and yes I think he calls his biz the Prince of Steaks. LOL! He went out on his own long time ago; you know how these father-son businesses can be. To tell you the truth though, his tastes better than the father's cheesesteaks.

llporter, cheese whiz goes well on everything!

TF, another guy who went South. So who are the other ones around here you used to see at the Dave & Busters get-togethers here?

I've worked and lived in the Philly area my whole life. Been in Montgomery, Chester, and Bucks counties. Never lived or worked in the actual city though. But our cheesesteaks and soft pretzels are the best in the country, hands down! But I currently work in Warminster, and live in Plymouth Meeting...

Dravyk, I didn't know you were from here! Looks like there are lots of people with some affiliation to the area...very cool. I attended a little get-together at...I think it was "Cheerleaders"? Down off of 95 a while back.
Any plans coming up?

Trust me, you don't have to tell me about this God awful heat...it was 107 here the other day. I thought I was gonna die! I hurried up and went home to suck up the AC. LOL!

ROFL! You know I'm just kidding, girl.

BUT, after being there for 45 years of my life, I was over due for a change. It will forever remain in my heart though, and I'll never give up hope that my Flyers will win bring Lord Stanley's cup back there either. WHEN that happens, you WILL find me on Broad St. celebrating - no matter where I happen to live!

Born in Russia. Grown in Philly. West, to be exact. Then, Montgomery County...

Ain't nuthin' like the pretzels....the Saloon, Knave of Hearts, La Famiglia, and all the hole in the wall pizza/steak sandwich places that move around like so many chess pieces. University City...The Mummer's Parade on New Year's Eve....Society Hill....Market Square...Arch Street when it was still dirty book stores....burlesque.....oh yeah. Philly.

i was at that lightspeed thing as well. fucking AWESOME TIME!

northeast philly in the house, and geno's steaks taste like shit.

JIMS and Steak and Hoagie Factory aka THE WORKS are the best.

i know if you go to nashville tennessee, their rendition of the cheesesteak is a roast beef sandwhich.

hell, if non-philly places would just get fucking steakums and bread, that would suffice.

philly people, email me from the site....

I love where I'm living....but, that's the one thing I DO miss....Philly winters, with lots and lots of snow. I fondly remember the blizzard of '93? Was it? 48 inches of purely wonderful snow.

that rocked! no work. no school. all play.

i think maxim or fhm declared philly the glorified pissbreak between nyc and dc.

little to they know, dc is boring and clad with homosexuals. the girls in dc are annoying too.

nyc is easily the dirtiest place on earth. you cant walk 2 feet in times square without the air pushing dirt in your eye, and it smells like shit and trash no matter where you go. no wonder the sewer rats are so big, they have a buffet on the sidewalks because ny has no dumpsters to place trash. youll see 43 trashbags in a pile with a street vendor selling fake Gucci bags from a shopping cart next to them.

Philly's always been the red headed step child ....with New York and it's playground and Washington, DC as the political hot bed.....

Too bad, really..it's a nice city.....I went to university there and it was a great place to be....I'm in Seattle now...but, I will always have a place for Philly....in my heart...and, yeah, that blizzard was it.

That is the the storm that resulted in one of the faveorite tv news moments for me and my dad. Channel 6 news weather guy Dave Roberts is out in their little weather garden thing and you can tell he is freezing his ass off and would really like to come in. Jim Gardner in the studio keeps asking him dumb questions to keep him out there like it is a game. He has obviously run out of things to ask and honestly goes 'Dave, is the sun still in the sky?'.

ugh! i remember that. we had like 2 extra days added. thats fine. ill take your week and a half off in exchange for 2 days of my summer.

mindy. how could you! steves SUCKS! i live near there and wanted to puke when i realized that they made cheesesteaks with whole pieces of beef rather than the chipped beef we normally use. that place itself is nasty. you walk in smelling nice, walk out smelling like grease.

my fave chicken cheesesteaks, when not from the works, are from nifty fiftys. instead of chipped chicken they use diced chickenbreast. i was suprised when i got my first one, but it was reallllly good.

jims on south street has good steaks too.

south street also has pizza slices that can literally be used as a scarf in the winter cause theyre so big.

Damn Raven, you almost made me home sick! lol

How about Rocky Horror Picture Show at The TLA on Fridays & Saturdays @ midnight...Or Zipperhead on South Street...or hanging out in LOVE park during the nicer warm weather days? Gotta love the Mummers Parade - freezing your ass off and standing outside all day (partying) to root for your favorite String Band. My faves were always Woodland and Quaker City - I knew members from both bands. Oh, and speaking of "Bands"...Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers, Robert Hazard & The Heroes, The Hooters, Hall & Oates (they claim Philly as their 'home" even though they grew up in the 'burbs.), Patty LaBelle and the list goes on.

And when our Fly guys finally bring that cup home, Raven, we'll have to make plans to meet one another. I've been reading your posts for years, and knowing some of the peeps that you call 'friend' online, it would be a pleasure to meet you.

Oh yeah, I recall that blizzard. I also recall the blizzard of '96. I actually got stuck moving during that one. Picked up the U-Haul truck the night before, woke up and went "FUCK!". Had no other choice though, had to do it. You haven't lived until you've moved during a blizzard that accumulates 33 inches of snow. LOL!

In Bucks county now, moving to Florida next week. Philly has to have the worst weather on the planet - winters are too warm (rainy slosh for 3 months) and the summers are 100 degrees.

Other than that Bucks county is one of the nicest areas in the country, anybody want to buy my 7 acre horse farm hit me up.

Jims at the Roosevelt Mall is pretty good too. I went there alot, being from the Tacony section when I lived there. You should check them out sometime.

Swoop, cool! Where in South Jersey?

TurboAngel, I could never forget about you!

2GetIt, you left Pittsburgh for good? I thought the Florida thing was just you on vacation. Wow!

Ant, yeah, sorry to miss Internext. I love Florida but only during the winter months. We'll hook up in Vegas if not sooner, bro!

Mindoza, naw, really? I went to Temple U also. Go Owls!!! Where in the Northeast? I'm in the Mayfair-Tacony area of the NE.

Bangman, you get around!

Raven, I'll send you some snow. hehehe

For those of you still in the Philly area, we gotta get together. At least "virtually", though in person would be even cooler!

mindy. how could you! steves SUCKS! i live near there and wanted to puke when i realized that they made cheesesteaks with whole pieces of beef rather than the chipped beef we normally use. that place itself is nasty. you walk in smelling nice, walk out smelling like grease.

my fave chicken cheesesteaks, when not from the works, are from nifty fiftys. instead of chipped chicken they use diced chickenbreast. i was suprised when i got my first one, but it was reallllly good.

jims on south street has good steaks too.

south street also has pizza slices that can literally be used as a scarf in the winter cause theyre so big.
Steves on Algon??? Not the one on the Blvd..the original I like it there although ive been on a diet pretty much since Oct so maybe my memory is fuzzy. The only thing I ever had at Nifty Fifty's is a milkshake would not even think to order a cheese steak there.

I have to agree with you. A number of celebrities have houses in Bucks County, such as Rod Stewart and Joan Rivers.
