I've been doing the Eliptical Cross trainer 4 days per week the past few weeks ... burn about 250 calories in 20 minutes - so we're right on the same pace.

I hate running ... like this machine much better.

Been doing a little lifting and 50 - 75 crunches each day too. Trying to get healthy not bulk up or anything like that. Just get into shape a little

Road running is harder than a treadmill, since you actually have to push yourself forward, not just bounce up. So I would add almost a third or so to whatever you burn on the treadmill at that pace for that duration.

If you need low impact I would move to a road bike ( not an indoor bike ) the only concern would be your time constraints. You will not hate spending time on a road bike like you do in a gym on a stationary bike.

As for calories while cycling, on avg you will burn as little as 700 per hour and as much as 1200 per hour, depending upon intensity. So on a bike for 30 minutes you could burn 600 calories (based on avg) depending on intensity. For a comparison, TDF riders burn up to 9000 calories a day.

As a runner with an injury, you should know what your paces were before you were injured; make appropriate reductions to those paces when you return and run by pace, not by how your breathing or heart rate is.

As far as fitness transfer goes, always assume that your training is specific to what you are doing: to improve your run, you need to run...etc.

There is a small amount of fitness transfer from running to cycling (and not vice versa), but only if your fitness level is quite low. IOW, the more trained you are in any sport, the less and less cross-training will effect your fitness in your sport of choice.

Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

those calories burned on the machines always seem to be kinda exaggerated. Not sure if thats true, just seems like the counts you get on the websites for actual running are much lower then that you get when doing the eliptical machines.

you must scale yourself before doing your exercise, in that way you would be able to monitor improvements.

40-45min is good. The trick is to keep up 5-6 days/week and you'll burn most fat, your metabolism will change.

Half hour is fine. At medium pace 350 sounds about right, too. The key here is consistency. Are you ready to do your cardio 4 times a week, 50 weeks a year (example: 2 weeks vacation), day in day out not missing a workout?

Cardio is a necessary evil when working out, most people hate it but what are you gonna do. Don't worry about how many calories you burn each session, worry about doing it every time you planned on doing it. It's hard enough.

I guess this is true ... i go 4 times a week now and do additional weight training 3 of those days ... but it's always hit and miss .. time is tight and i almost never go the same days ... i need to stick to a schedule ..
