QUESTION For People Who Work-Out / PUMP IRON...

I work out 2-3 times per week, usually intensive weight lifting, bench, pecks, shoulders, curls, etc... My question is this: When doing lat pulldowns, my chest shudders after I pass my nose. It doesn't seem to matter how much weight is on, (anywhere from 75lbs on up). When I pull down to the back of my neck, it's smooth. Is there any explanation for this. It doesn't happen on any other workouts...

Smooth?

btw you should be doing your lats first.

Biggest muscle group then to your smaller more targeted muscles.

Doesn't seem to matter what stage of the work-out I do them in, (begining or end). It is very strange, like a spasm. I always stretch and do a few light reps on different machines before I start.

Best advice any GFY member will give you is this.

See a medical doctor and or Physical Trainer.

Yep that's wierd - best go to the doc or physio. I'd guess there's a muscle imbalance or something is slightly misaligned...

Yeah, see a doc or trainer. It is probably no big deal at all but its best to get it checked out before you fuck around and tear something.

I do a pretty condensed routine, abs, chest, back, shoulders, arms, etc... all in one session, (takes about 1 1/2 hours). Usually 3 days rest between sessions. Not much cardio or lower due to my schedule, hard enought to stay dedicated as it is.

"When doing lat pulldowns, my chest shudders after I pass my nose"

It means they are probably weak.

Try doing them last then with light weight until they get stronger.

I'm stumped. I have no problem doing the weight, just look goofy doing it -

"Lat pulldowns have changed over the years. In the past, the lat pulldown was performed by pulling the bar behind the head to the shoulders. However, it was found that biomechanically, this was not a natural movement and could cause injury to the shoulder area as well as excess strain on the upper spine and neck. You can gain the same benefits by performing the lat pulldown in front of the head."

what does this have to do with baseball?

who knows if you'll injure yourself for sure but you definitely do have more of a chance of tearing something while doing something like that... especially if you have bad form in the first place
