epassporte = paypal????

I just logged into my epassporte account, and received a notice that they have placed my account into 'fraud protection mode'...I have to check my email and call the number to get it reinstated...

So I call...no one has any idea why it was done, all they know is that 'the system' knows best and has placed my account into 'fraud protection mode' and that I now have to:

Fax in a copy of my signature
Fax in a copy of my passport
Fax in a copy of my credit card
Fax in a copy of my credit card statement
Fax in a copy of a utility bill

Until I do this, I am screwed...can't access my money, can't do anything.

As a sidenote, I have run about $40k through this epassporte account in the past 2 months, and have been incredibly satisfied, thinking it was different than paypal.

Anyone else had these problems? I am not sure what to do...I love epassporte, but this is too much like paypal and I definitely don't want that.

Problem is that I am travelling and it's a bit inconvenient for me to get my hands on everything they want at the moment.

Just got off the phone with them...the manager that I spoke with told me that the hold was because they saw transactions coming from another country...I told her that it is because I have a home in that country also, and why didn't they freeze it when it first opened, since transactions from that country have been coming in from day one.

Basically, it just feels like paypal...I am being told that the department I need to speak to has no telephone access, and that I just have to send an email and hope for the best...

I had the same problem, but the reason was my total amount in the account. If you have more than $5k in the account they will ask for id copies etc.

I was just told that it would be a minimum of 7 - 10 days from the day that the verification is received, and it could take them 3-4 days to get to it. I verified everything, answered every question, and was told that I am basically out of luck.

Suspicious transactions in a foreign country is the reason that I was given...basically, I will have to wait a minimum of 14 days to receive word on whether or not they are going to reinstate my account...

It's funny...those transactions have been coming from the same country since the account was opened...I $#^%$ LIVE THERE. But I guess someone got bored and decided to see who they could fuck with...

Anyone know any good ePassporte alternatives?

start using any credit card all over the country and or for purchases out of hte norm and they will contact you.

I think he was saying they were not out of the norm. Also yes most credit card places may contact you if they see irregular usage, yet how many will take 14+ days to correct it?

I think thats one of the major beefs..

Basically it takes all the usage from the card..

What if you had a domain on auto-renew and went to visit your grandmother for a week , or you broke your leg or something. epass suddenly suspends the account , the domain gets sold out from under you and your shit out of luck.. * unless you happen to bring along your utility bill, driver license, passporte , pubic hair samples and footprints when you visit your grandma

well put...I just told them to close the account...as much as I travel, I can't afford to worry that next time I go to use the card it may or may not work...especially when it is kinda BS like this...

I guess that the person that may have stolen my card also stole my pin number and the CVV number of the card I use to charge the epassporte, because they were not only using the epassporte at ATM machines, but they were logging into my account and recharging it daily...

Damn if that doesn't just smell like fraud.

lol...the worst part is that I liked epassporte

epass is hilarious, multiple paypal accts is the way to go.
Shit outside of adult I dont know anyone with an epass acct

have you not noticed every major sponsor is adding epassporte and removing paypal as a method of payment for webmasters

paypal is useless for adult mate - anyone using risks being terminated at any moment and trustme there is NO way paypal would even bother contacting you let alone giving you a chance to explain your actions

did you guys know that when you got an epass account you can send money to anyone else with an epassporte account and they get the cash instantly - and it costs 25 cents - i think that feature alone is fucking awesome.

I will admit that I have seen posts from ppl claiming to not be able to use their virtual epass account online but that also happens with ALL cards and I have also seen plenty of posts from ppl saying they have sucessfully completed many transactions online.

back to the topic - dude just relax if you have done nothing wrong - I will make sure Rand sees this thread the instant he arrives at work

Just remember these companies have procedures to follow and lots of things are automated etc etc - you say you like epassporte and I suspect you mean it just hang in there and give em a chance hey

all I read is blah blah blah, if epass EVERS has 1/1000000th of the market share paypal does I would consider it. As an indivdual user it costs how much to reload your account? 5 bucks per 100?
The tech staff is at most half retarded at epass, anyone who leaves money of any susbstantial amounts in any electron type of payment method online is an idiot, period. Paypal rules the internet, bottom line. Adult is such a tiny fraction of the online community that multiple paypal accounts are the only way to roll

I agree...epassporte is better than paypal by far...I just can't afford to gamble on whether or not my account is going to be frozen randomly like this..btw, I have to give a thumbs up to epass customer support...they really, really wanted to help and they were very polite...if I wasn't travelling and happened to have my utility bills and credit card statements in hand, I might would have faxed everything in and kept the account...I just worry that with travelling as much as I do, that at any moment they could decide to freeze it again, which is a little embarassing, having my card refused when Im taking the GF out to dinner or something

iluvasians -- You don't need to worry about your account being interrupted again once you have the necessary paperwork on hand with ePassporte. (Barring any truly questionable activity of course).

Your account becomes a verified account once you have the requested paperwork on file. This helps meet the "Know Your Customer Rules" required by the card associations and the "Protection Mode" is in place to protect you and your money as much as it is to protect ePassporte. Had this situation indeed been a case of fraud, you would be posting something very different. ePassporte has no desire to interrupt any legitimate account holders transactions. Especially since that's basically the way ePassporte makes any money.

I question the information you received about the transactions coming from out of the country if indeed your history showed that you had been using the account from that country all along. My guess is that there was a red flag due to a balance which requires further verification of the account holder or some sort of velocity check. Whatever the case, once you are able to get the appropriate paperwork to them, ePassporte can reinstate your account and I assure you it doesn't take two weeks to do it. As far as I know, the account can be reinstated the same day the paperwork is received as long as everything looks good and is complete.

Im also a little bit curious about this " know your customer" rule. As suprising as it may sound, NONE of my 8 visa's or 2 MASTERCARD's have asked me for any of the info epassporte requires.

Thats cause those cards ask for other information that lets them get even MORE information then epass asks for. You should ask someone thats inside the credit bureau about the kind of information they can see, it would scare you.

I'll stick to epass and avoid the 30 day hold on US checks, thanks.
I dont keep much in it though, when I get an amount I prepay things like hosting or just go to an ATM.

The waiting 14+ days is bullshit. If they are worried about fraud, change the password or pin to the confirmed email account. Have a second level secretword. Dozens of ways to fix this.

It's about the $$. A page out of PayPals play book IMO. They prolly became jaded by the fraud they had to eat???

The answer is multiple accounts as some players have done.

Don't like a someone? Just try to login into their epassporte account 20+ times and it goes into freeze mode. Advise you don't get caught at this. Actually I advise not to do this.

As much as I still wish that this had not happened, I would be an asshole if I did not post that ePassporte returned my account to normal status today without requiring me to send in the information.

As I stated the whole time, I think ePassporte is one of, if not the best out there, and this quick action completely restores my confidence.
