Shouldn't butter melt after 5 minutes in the microwave ??

I discovered something interesting, to me atleast....

I made my own buffalo sauce and one of the ingredients was butter....i put some from the fridge (so not even frozen solid), and after 5 mins in the microwave and stirring each minute, it still hadn't melted!

I'm guessing the other ingredients protected it form the heat or something ?? Even still, it should have melted form the heat of the sauce (which was very hot), don't you think ?

refridgerated butter can take anywhere from 30 sec's to 5 mins to melt. depends on the microwave and the settings on it.

was on high power......anyhow I tried the same size piece, just alone in a bowl and it melted to liquid in about 50 seconds...

doesn't matter though, the sauce tastes yummy anyhow

Now I just have to find what to put it on.

the microwave heats the molecules of water and thats how it heats up, in your case i really can;t understand why it didn't melt!

I just tried it now (making a chocolate fudge for after the newyear!) and it melt right away!! strange!

I don't like ketchup much....I prefer BBQ sauce, but I think my most-used suace has to be vinegar.

Salad, fries, dry food or anything I don't like the taste of - vinegar is there !

All kinds of other foods cook in normal times though.....

I thought maybe it's some chemical reaction with the other ingredients.
