No one said that. However, America does give its citizens more freedoms then any other single country. I've spent lots of time researching this to find a place to run to if America goes to shit and only Switzerland even comes close.

Most countries do not guarantee their citizens the rights of freedom of speech, religion, free press, petition grievence, bare arms, a fair and speedy trial, privacy, private property. These are GUARANTEED in our constitution, most countries guarantee a few of these freedoms in their constitution, but not all of them.

I am stupid and ignorant because I believe the US should keep out of other countries affairs? I am aware of of the state of my countries financial situations. I believe a step towards improving them would be to worry more about issues at home then overseas. Its my opinion if you don't like it fuck off.

For the record Yes I run a very succesfull business. Why are you getting personal with me? Do you want to compare bank statements or cocks fuck head.

Australia has all those freedoms you mention except the right to bear arms. Instead we have the right to be free of gun violence.

Personally I prefer that right.

Actually, I wouldn't doubt it. Sweden has the highest tax rate in the industrialized world. Americans pay about half the taxes of Swedes, which gives us more money to spend, which supports our robust economy. Sorry, but Sweden's economy pales in comparisson to America's economy, even at Sweden's best and America's worst.

Amazing?

I am fucking stunned by the astounding ignorance. I've never seen this level of crass stupidity from any nation on the earth that comes from some in the US.

I sure hope, tho that's failing, that this is not the average intelligence of others in the US.

If so, it's better they be put down at birth - I can see why there is a fetish about abortion there.

Many of us outside the US sincerely empathise with those of you who did not support a 4 year extension of the current regime. We had all hoped that common sense would prevail.

However, regardless of specific issues, in terms of world perception, what used to be viewed as and 'tolerated' (pending your election) as the fundamentalist ramblings and crude reactions (no pun intended) by a guy called george and his rich croneys, your democratic process suggests that the majority (albiet slight) of your country, the United States of America supports this.

This is surprising, disappointing, and very frightening.

Your country is not united - it is clearly and seriously divided as evidenced by your election results.

There are over 100,000,000 people in your country who do not endorse what has gone on in the past 4 years and, apparently, are helpless to do anything about it.

Further and unfortunately, the half of your nation which feels victimized by the rest of the planet, and believes to be under constant threat of 'attack', has been enabled by your democratic process to further its paranoia, intentional misinformation, fear mongering, 'why us' attitude, and resulting unfounded 'pre-emptive' strikes.

I don't think I'm alone when I mark a new date in my calendar as a devastating moment in world history:

Nov/02/2004

Good luck to our sensible 'American Cousins' and friends - please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you work towards a more globally respectful and responsible democracy.

We're all in this together!

I was simply stating some basic ideas. Is it possible at this point. Probably not. But changes have to be made. We have to make an effort not to get involved in places we don't belong.

That would be a good start.

Hey!! I got no problem with that!

I did have a problem with a kinda weird question you had about, - who does the US owe loads of money to??

Answer? Many many billions to many countries, in particular Asia.

I also run a biz and I sure as hell want to know who I owe money to. It's probably the wiser to know this.

Has crime lowered ANY?

My point stands, no single country guarantees as many freedoms as America does. If anyone can prove otherwise (and I mean proof, not rhetoric), I'll gladly pack my bags and move there.

Honest opinion, take it for what it's worth. No matter which of the candidates, (and I use the term very loosely), won, we'd still be the laughingstock of the rest of the world. We've gotten entirely too arrogant in our "nobility" and entirely too complacent.

Ironically "common sense" did prevail. Conservatives prefer to use "common sense" rather then facts, logic or the scientific method. Of course, common sense would contradict quantum physics, yet it is the most well tested and accepted set of theories in scientific history, even more so then general relativity and gravity. Conservatives preach to pay attention to common sense and ignore everything else. Unforutnately, common sense is not all it's cracked up to be.

Let's rewrite that sentence a bit for those who aren't getting it.

"Name ONE country that has MORE freedoms..." Not DIFFERENT freedoms.

Carry on.

I'll reitterate, if anyone can name ONE country that GUARANTEES more FREEDOMS then America does, I'll gladly move there.

My point stands, no single country guarantees as many freedoms as America does. If anyone can prove otherwise (and I mean proof, not rhetoric), I'll gladly pack my bags and move there.
Astounding stupidity.

The US is now THE most unfree country in the Western World.

There are MANY countries who have more "freedoms" than the US and many other advantages, - but you clearly don't know this.

No.. please don't inflict any other country with your residency - they are often not so tolerant of US idiots.

True. However, would Kerry necessarily have been a beter President, or was he just thrown up by the Democratic party in a vain attempt, (sadly), to get Bush out of office?

What are those perticular "freedoms" you are talking about?

Fair enough.

I hoped, the jist of my message was clear.

In lieu of 'common sense' (which is more a naive aspiration), let's use 'level-headed, balanced globally responsible' instead.

This is a matter of research and special intrest to me. I've spent a great deal of time comparing constitutions, tort law, etc., to find another country that guarantees more freedomes. If I can find another country that has more guaranteed freedoms then the American constitution guarantees, I'll move to that country. I have yet to find that country. If you've found it, then spit it out, I'd genuinely love to hear it.

Webby, please stop with the namecalling. I don't appreciate being lumped into the generalized "US idiots" box. Thanks.

There's three that you don't have.
1. You're listing things that are legal, not constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.

2. These are things we don't have, fine but we've got things they don't have.

"Comparing consititutions, tort law, etc,"

Hell.. that is one guy that is a VERY hard learner if he has not grasped even basic fundamental facts, yet spews rubbish about tort law.

Sheesh....

I have absolutely NADA sympathy for crass idiots like this.

Have a nice day in lala land

You are playing a semantic game by talking about 'guaranteed' freedoms.

You Americans NEED 'guaranteed' freedoms because you have a large population of rabid, fundamentalist Christians who are constantly trying to attack them.

Most other first world nations don't have this problem.

In practice, there are many countries that enjoy the same day to day freedoms that you enjoy. I live in one of them.

Unlike you, I'm actually interested in being proven wrong. If someone can produce and prove that another country has more freedoms then America, then that's where I'm going to move to. It is greatly to my advantage that someone prove me wrong. You, on the other hand, just want someone to bitch at. I bet you're a really frustrated individual. Probably either money or relationship problems.

Best post i've read all day.

I disagree, look at Kerry's platform and compare it to Bush's. They were practically identical with a few minor differences.

You have now made a positive claim, now prove it. If you can prove it, then I'll be moving to the country that has more guaranteed freedoms. I'll wait.
