have you ever been in a fight before?

I see people always talk tough but don't really start swinging at each other, last time I was in a fight it was 7th grade and I don't even remember why.
have any of you been in a fight b4 and why

Hehehe, going drinking in Iceland is a good way to get into a figh, specially if you are fairly big and too drunk and stupid to walk away from guys that get very strong when they drink

Also got into a fight with some Skinheads over here in bcn, and once I got involved in a brawl in a English pub after Chelsea beat Leeds 3-2, scoring 2 goals in the last minutes, we couldn't help but taunt them a bit, they didn't like it

When I was in HS.... some girl was making fun of me in front of a bunch of people because I had a weight problem my senior year so I threw a drink in her face and then used my "weight problem" to kick her ass. (She was a stick). I don't condone fights, that was about 15 years ago.

I used to fight a lot before... but I was the opposite of the person described in the original post. I used to get in an argument with someone bigger then me, throw the hardest punch I could as soon as possible and give the guy a black eye and then just cover up and weave.. next day it looks like you killed him cause he's the one with the black eye and if anything you're shoulders/arms/skull are a little bruised.

Many hockey fights.

I'm scared to fight outside sports, mainly because I thnik I'd black out and kill someone, no use going to prison when you can simply walk away and have a cold shower.

not since 8th grade

I won pretty much all the fights I was in where it was just me against one guy

I kinda miss it, but I'm 5' 9" and a lot of people are taller than me which makes it not fair

maybe I should start a fight club?

The first and last time I picked up a fight was when the brother of an ex-girlfriend freaked out, started insulting me in a really ugly way...it ended with a gun pointed at my head and I got beaten up really bad...I learned from that, don't start fighting with a russian freak who spends half his life in the gym.

height and muscles have nothing to do with fighting...at all..Im alive right? Makes me a valid example. I use to fight all bigger guys..heres alittle secret for all of you..If your a big guy i feel bad for you when u pick on little guys cuz when u do pick on em you better be ready for a long scrap...Thats if most people can fight..Most are just shit talkers and dont do shit..My buddies who are big and can fight always go for the bigger person rather then the small..They know whats in store if they do find someone whos smaller who can throw blows . Plus they have seen me

Yes, once I had to kick ass as an adult. It didn't take long. Hint: if you're in my house shooting off your mouth about my personal business and I ask you to leave, leave.

I used to get into fights with natives a lot.. haven't in the past 5 years or so though. Made me feel badass since natives can't take a punch.

the only problem with Judo is that you run out of things to do once you get the takedown

buddy of mine used to do tae kwon do and some form of brazilian grappling, we used to go to the gym and he'd practice on me, but it teaches you how to fight, everyone need to know how to defend themselves if the situation arises

you must not of been in many fights...Only way u can say that is if the guy tries to bring u down to the ground to fight...But even then the little guy is quicker and gets out..This is on most cases of seen..Even little guys who cant fight and at least try still dont lose overwhelmingly..But iv never lost to anyone bigger then me..Iv had 1 good fight for 30 minutes that I could say was a draw..

I scrap just about every day, for the last two years. I follow MMA and boxing.

You have a case of severe wishful thinking.

Don't get me wrong, I'm only 5'9 and I wish you were right lol but facts is facts, and big guys will kick your little ass pretty quickly if their skill level is even close to yours.

lol u are a boxer huh? Let me ask u soemthing then..You out of everyone should know size means nothing..Since u are a boxer that is..I got buddies who box also and your thought mentality as a boxer is completly ass backwards...You are honestly one of the only people iv have ever talked to that actually fights either for a living or for fun to say what u said..So sorry to say man but your alone on that. People who have not been in a nice range of fights always have opinions that dont make sense...Reason for this is inexperience...But ill respect your thought process since i have never come across anyone who does physical fighting in any way say what u said to me..Size matters and bigger guys wint he majority.

why do you think they have weight classes in any martial art? How long would Marco Antonio Barrera last against Roy Jones Jr or Bernard Hopkins? How well would Genki Sudo do against Ricco Rodriguez? I'm not sure what info you're using to draw your conclusions from. If I'm rolling with a guy twice my weight with half my skills I have a serious problem on my hands. If I roll with someone 25 lbs lighter with an equal level of skill I'll handle him like a child. I know this because I do this every day. Everybody I know who trains takes this as a given, because we know it for a fact.

I'm not a boxer, I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Academy. You should check into it, sounds like you might enjoy it.

your wrong... I am 5'9 150 and I win all the time unless they get in a lucky punch and I do mean lucky... I am 2nd deg black belt in Ju Jitsu and the bigger guy usually looses in my sport...

ok but that still doesnt prove your point..First off roy jones vs say barrerra would still be a 5 round fight if not more..You are talking about big guys and there power..Of course if a little guy gets hit with a perfect punch or 2 they will be knocked out..But professional fighters compared to regular everyday people fighting is way different..Big guys normally can not get a clean blow on little guys..where as smaller guys can get 6 or 7 in that are just as affective as 1...It all depends on how your jaw is in terms of taking punches..also your in the gracie camp man..gracie wasnt big at all..i mean if ua re in the gracie camp and things im suprised they would say size matters...In boxing it doesnt..nice example is roy jones vs ruiz and roy one...He could of knocked him out if the fight kept going on more then 12 rounds..who knows..But as for UFC style of fighting and shit and wrestling of course weight more then size matters because your mainly fighting on the ground a ton and if a huge guy is on top of you theres no way out

btw i might look into it...I am that type of person..Love confrontation

Royce won because nobody else knew how to fight on the ground. He couldn't beat those giants today, EVERY fighter is a grappler now.

There was a HUGE skills disparity between Ruiz and Jones, bigger than the size difference. A god-like 200 lb RJ is going to beat a plodding hugger like Ruiz even with the 20 lb difference. If they didn't let him jab and hold, Ruiz would never win a fight.

Thats true...i saw that fight between tito ortiz and shamrock and shamrock kept his old fighting style...Well he mainly fought standing up which in my opinion was not a good idea...tito ortiz has lost his last 2 or so since..

yeah Tito was afraid to shoot against Liddell and tried to stand and punch with him. Big mistake.

I think he was just afraid of a knee in the face. Strikers are getting better and better at not being taken down to the ground, they're learning to sprawl, how to get the underhook etc and so on. It might have been a pride thing, can't be sure, definitely whatever Tito was thinking was WRONG lol

I'd still like to know where you train, there are DAMN FEW black belts in BJJ. Maybe I know you.

Not true, you can make throws that brake arms in Judo, actually brazilian Jujitsu is more related to Judo than real japanese jujitsu.

The guy who brought it to Brazil and tought it to the Gracies was a student of Kano, the man who established Kodokan Judo, so what he tought to Carlos Gracie was actually Judo (still considered Jujitsu at the time)

Judo can be very effective, specially when you get to higher levels and get a grasp of your weight center, I can for example stand my ground against a guy that is 40 kg. heavier than me, of course it is true though that fighting a guy that is bigger and has the same skill level is not a fair fight

I was being facetious ;) Judo is a good art, but the fact that it emphasizes a pin rather than a submission is a serious handicap if you have to use it to protect yourself against a bigger guy. Best thing to do is learn some Judo takedowns and then add some BJJ submissions so you have a more complete package.
